{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Making Memories}

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Our family sure did.

Just a few pretty desserts on our Thanksgiving table. We had so many desserts and as always lots of good food. With a family of over 50 in attendance you better have lots to eat huh?

My husband says every year that Thanksgiving is his most special time of the year. His reasoning; No one seems to be in a hurry. Everyone actually takes the time to visit. No one expects something from you. And....the food is GOOD!

 My whole heart stands in this picture.

We also celebrated this granddaughter's 10th birthday. She is now DOUBLE DIGITS!

She is such a sweet girl and has a heart for Jesus. Makes this Nana proud.

We also celebrated with these two grands for harvesting two nice bucks. My granddaughter Mallory and grandson Conner showed up the adults with their deer hunting skills. In one of the pictures is their great-grandfather AKA 2-Pa and of course the other picture is with their Papa Marty. Memories made that day in the beautiful outdoors.

I went shopping on Black Friday. Let me go ahead and tell you that I am not your knock each other down, stab, poke and pull Black Friday shopper. NONE of that mess is worth the savings of $5. But, I enjoy the company of my girl's and of course the best part is eating out! LOL! I was one tired Nana time I got back home.

Most of my Christmas is up now with exception of a tree and I decided this year I wanted one of those pretty skinny tree's AKA as the pencil tree. It is being shipped to me and will be up soon. My oldest grandgirl Raygen spent a whole day with me and helped me with the Christmas decor. So glad because it seems that it takes me all day to do what it used to take me only a few hours to do! DANG getting old ain't for sissy's!

Just a touch of red added to my blue and white dishes and it works for me.

My new snowflake little plates are the cutest. I bought them after Christmas last year while on clearance. So glad I didn't forget I had them. LOL! Hoping to do a tablescape post next week maybe.

Don't you just love my new apron? A Christmas gift from my friend Vicky. I love me some Hallmark movies. Especially if I have a cup of coffee in one hand and a cookie in the other! LOL!

As the Christmas season has already begun in full swing may we remember to slow down and enjoy the moments. So many distractions are upon us it seems. Speaking of Hallmark movies I was watching one the other night and this one scene grabbed at my heart.
The Senior adult lady had her tiny little 2 foot table tree sitting in the middle of her dining table. The neighbor was visiting with her and over a cup of tea she says to the lady, "Where is your Christmas tree and your decorations? We must put you up some Christmas decoration". The older lady said as she looked at her tree on the dining room table, "This is my Christmas tree and decoration". There's pictures of my children, grandchildren, family and friends."
 (not worded exactly like the movie but you get the message)

The true meaning of Christmas is Jesus Christ and that my friends is reason to celebrate. But, the whole essence of the story was that our children, grandchildren, family and friends should not be put on the back burner while we get carried away with all the hoopdala of Christmas. We should remember what is most important and besides Jesus Christ, it is spending time with our loved ones and friends. Life is short. Life is precious. And let us not forget that the greatest gift did not come in a box, but a manger.

Have a sweet week.
Hugs and blessings, Cindy

I don't do well in crowds so I tend to avoid the Black Friday and Boxing Day sales. Is your skinny tree one of those "pop-up" trees? It took me HOURS to put up my tree, but it was totally worth it!

Just gave one of my big ones to one of my daughters. Well, I told her I would loan it to her! LOL!

    My husband and daughter did the Black Friday thing. They've been doing that for years. My SIL and I stayed back with the four little ones, so I was a tired Nana too! Congrats on turning the corner to Christmas already. I haven't quite made the leap yet, but I did check out my Christmas Card stash, so I know I'll get there soon.

  24. What a sweet post, Cindy...your Thanksgiving sounded wonderful and I enjoyed your family photos...your girls are so beautiful, just like their mama! I wish I could say that I had my decorating done but that's what I'll be doing this weekend since NEXT weekend we are having Christmas with the TN bunch. I am sometimes guilty of letting the stress of it all overwhelm me so I have to deliberately get off with the Lord, take a deep breath and just as you said, remember why we're celebrating! Enjoy your Thursday and the rest of the week!

    1. Awe, I know you are excited about having Christmas with your TN family. Debby, I don't nearly what I used to do when it comes to seasonal decorating. Mercy, I can remember my granny getting to s point that she really didn't care if a tree was put up as long as she had her little green ceramic tree. Of course we could not stand it so a tree always went up as long as she lived at home and the short 8 months that she lived in a nursing facility we still had her a little tree. I guess that is one decor I will always need along with my nativity set. Happy Day to you dear friend.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
