{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Winter White and Copper Delight and Questions}

Since it seems that Florida is actually having a little winter weather I thought I would do a little tablescape to celebrate. YES, I said celebrate because I can already see the heat coming and with that in Florida comes those dang mosquitoes!

It seems that everywhere I turn, something I read whether it's in devotional book or someone posting on Facebook, or through an email I keep seeing "Keeping it Real" type of posts or readings. So for this post we are going to "Keep it Real" with answers to our questions. While we have some REAL talk I want to share with you my Winter White and Copper Delight tablescape.

1: The New year is a time for New Beginnings. What New Beginnings do you see or hope for for 2018?

The phrase "New Beginnings" can mean; letting go of the past and moving forward; turning over a new leaf; embracing something new; the act of starting something new.

There’s something in the human spirit that naturally draws us toward new beginnings, new things, new quests and well, for each one this can mean something different. For me this year my new beginning is reading through the Bible.  Our pastor is doing this with the church and has made it to where we all have access to the daily readings along with a short devotional. Now let me go ahead and say, I have had to go back and catch up. But, I am making an effort and I truly want to do this.

 2: Do you have a list for things you would like to accomplish in 2018?  If so, what is something from that list that you would like to share.

I always have things I want to do and hope to accomplish and I have several things on my list but I will share one thing. Redoing some things in my kitchen in on my list. We have put in new counter tops, bought a few things that I wanted for the kitchen but I am ready for a fresh paint job and a makeover so to speak. We shall see.....

3: What is something that you have made a change in over the past year that you have been happy about? This can cover a wide spectrum for all of us.
For me, there are several things I could share that I made a change in last year but I will share one thing. Before I share this I need to tell you that this change is STILL a WORK in progress for me. BEING A PEOPLE PLEASER. I could write a book on this. I could share the reasoning's that sparked this change for me and I could talk about everything from history of my personal life, to church activities, family, friends and well, my list could be quite lengthy. But, this has been a change that I desperately needed in my life and though I struggle at times I can say that the DIFFERENCE has been for my best.
4: Speaking of the New Year, New Beginnings, New Goals and well, everything new. Finish the sentence:
I hope that in this brand new year that I can
_____________________________.
 I hope that in this brand new year that I can purposely with intent, listen to others, hear them and not merely be listening just for the sake of listening. (if this makes any sense at all)

Well I can't end my time with you without sharing the latest sonogram of my grandgirl that is on the way. Isn't she just adorable?

Hope you have enjoyed my Winter White and Copper Delight tablescape as you have pondered some of the questions for yourself as well. The thing is y'all, we don't know what 2018 holds for us. Probably a good thing we don't. But we can dream, we can hope, we can challenge ourselves, we can be the change for new beginnings. I don't know what tomorrow holds but praise the Lord I know who holds tomorrow.

 Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. Trust is my word for 2018! :) I know excactly what you mean about listening. I noted in one of my daybooks that I would LISTEN and not just hear. I have found myself doing that a lot lately.
    LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your tablescape! :)

    1. Trust is a good word and a challenging one . Yes sometimes i think I’m listening and catch myself really not . That bothered me recently in a situation that i felt the person i was talking to truly wasn’t hearing a word i said . She was so distracted by her texts that she was getting and responding too while talking that i felt she never heard a word i said . I dint want to do that to people . Anyway , that’s my main reasoning but in all honesty , people truly want to know that you’re not only speaking but you are listening .

  4. Cindy, love the winter white and copper . Those salt shakers caught my eye . Last year I challenged myself to once a month to o something for me . Whether it was a shopping trip or window shopping . Whether it was a Saturday to stay in pj’s all day or grab a friend and go to a movie . I was pretty successful and it made such a difference in my personal life . This year i hope to do a makeover in my bedroom and my goal is to eat healthier . Enjoyed this Cindy . Connie Royals

I love how you done something for yourself like that last year . That was a great goal we all need to do I’m sure . Makeovers are time consuming but we have to start somewhere . And eating healthier is wonderful . I fail miserably at that sometimes but that too was something last year i said i was going to do better and fir the most part i felt i did . It’s a constant challenge though as with most things in life . But try is all we can do .

  11. Oh, how pretty! I just love how you have it all arranged and decorated. You have that precious, homey touch. :) I also loved reading your answers to the questions, and I LOVE that song. It is a great comfort. I am trying to look forward to the new year and hoping for better days, to be honest. Last year left my family and me reeling and hurting so deeply, so we are trusting Jesus that this new year will bring peace and a lot of healing. I trust it will be a wonderful year for you and your family, too. And, people pleasing? You and I have a lot in common, my friend. I love the quote that says, "The Master's approval is the servant's best wages." If only we could be content with HIS approval, we wouldn't feel the need to please anyone else. So wonderful to visit with you, as always, dear Cindy! Sending love and hugs your way!

  14. Beautiful table! I love the winter white and copper combination, so pretty!! Well, I guess I’m going to have to work on organizing my time better this year. Since retiring, I have joined several groups - some fun, some service. As you can imagine, if I join something, I like to be involved! Each takes time and I find I’m spending all of my free time doing this work. I love it but would like to be able to spend a little time on me (again). Figuring out a realistic schedule for all the things important in my life will be one of my goals this year. Happy week, Cindy!

  15. Thank you. I love the table too. Girl, I have to pray for the Lord to help me be a better management of my time. Busyness of life really can put a damper on organization. But I often do it to myself by allowing so many little things to build up on my plate. Yes, I know what you mean about if I am going to be a part of something then I want to be involved. I have had to learn the hard way, that I can't do it all. But, I can do a little and therefore I pick and choose. Not everything I do is the FUN stuff but it's needed. However, I have also learned that if that THING brings me more burden than joy...that might be my sign to quit it. LOL! Hoping you will get your schedule figured out dear friend and simply work on it. It takes time sometimes to find what works and doesn't. So glad you stopped by today Zenda. I think of you often.

  19. Such a pretty table you have created! I have always loved copper but don't own any. At one time I was thinking about painting my dining room copper but I never did. Oh, lots of questions with I don't know answers for me! I do know that I want to purge my house of so much stuff that I do not use that others can benefit from. I just found out that in my little town there is a group called The Green Angels that gather stuff and GIVE it to those that need it. I hesitate to give to Goodwill because they SELL it. Don't get me wrong....in the winter Goodwill is my go to place for thrifting, but for those that can't afford things, I'd rather give it to them.

  20. Thanks Ann Marie. Yes, I agree with you about giving to others to sell. Unless I just flat out want to get rid of it. I donate clothes and shoes to a church who has a giveaway once a month. What a neat group, the Green angels. Have a good rest of the week Ann Marie.

  21. Hi Cindy, Congrats on your beautiful grand girl on the way. How exciting and a wonderful event to look forward to in the new year. I love your copper and white winter styling. It really is so peaceful and calm tablescape. Always have lots going on here with projects and my first of the year has been my studio. Repainting, cleaning out, organizing and more. It seems I'll move on to more as the months going along. Your post ends with my all time favorite Bible verse. This is one I think of each day and have to turn to often. Best wishes on your bible reading through the year. It will be a great accomplishment and one I need to start too.

  22. Hi Cindy, I love your tablescape. It's beautiful. There are so many things I want to accomplish and that is always part of the problem. Coming up with too many things and accomplishing few. "Just do it!" was my motto last year and it worked well at times. I hope to continue this into the new year to motivate myself. When there is something to be accomplished and it starts to nag at you, it can drain your energy. It takes less energy to "just do it". We'll see what the new year brings LOL.

    1. Kelly, I love that, "Just Do It". Yep that is the mind set I need to have a lot of times! LOL! I have got to that stage of life that I am learning to do one project at a time and to try and finish it before starting on something new. With type A personality I tend to become impatient but learning that patience pays off. Happy New Year Kelly.

Often, I am sad to say, I want my will and hope that His will lines up with my will. Hugs to you dear lady.

    Where do I begin? This is such a delicious post for the mind, soul, and eyes. You have blessed me this morning with your gentle words and sincerity. I am focusing on a deeper connection to my Heavenly Father and striving to let go of all of things that I cannot change and not allowing disappointments to steal away the blessings that have been given to me.

Love what you said Jemma about not allowing disappointments to steal away our blessings. I am going to remember that. Happy Day to you.

I've been redecorating our house for a few months now and will continue as long as it takes, I'm slow. I'm using a lot of white throughout too! I have also started helping a friend redecorate her home, it's my gift to her for her special birthday coming up in April, I plan to be finished with her house by April! In 2018 I hope to - and plan to - declutter closets and cupboards, the garage and attic and anything that has things that aren't loved and used often. And I want to hear God's voice for this new season in our lives.

    What a great questions you ask about the new year too. This year, I'd love to join you in listening to others. I'm not as good at it as I should be. I remember reading that some people listen to learn, and some listen and constantly prepare their reaction to it. Then there's me. I listen and then tend to forget what I heard. Ugh. Needs improvement!
    This year, I'd also like to read more. That's my word for the year. I see reading as a luxury, something that comes in last in the day. I'd really like that to change.
    Blessings to you!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
