Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
Well the hubby and I got away for three days to the beach in St. Augustine and oh was it so relaxing.
There's just times that you need to do a getaway. We all need to break away from routine at times don't you agree?
And especially when it's to the beach! MY HAPPY PLACE NO DOUBT! There is just something about the sound of the ocean that relaxes you. Especially when you have a good book to read.
We done some eating! Look at the size of those pancakes! WHOA! Needless to say he couldn't eat both. Seems that all we did do was lay on the beach and eat. Now we did have a tent mind you. My man is NOT going to lay out in the sun. Now me, I will lay out in the sun a while, get wet, then back under tent. This is kinda how I do my beach time. A little sun and a LOT of shade. He burns and I tan fairly easily but see here....THAT OCEAN WIND will burn you up if you aren't protected.
We went to several places to eat but one was called Caps on the Water. It was so nice. The atmosphere, food and service was excellent.
You can dine inside or out. When the sun goes down all the lights outside come on but are dimmed and oh so pretty glistening across the water.
Huge trees and of course huts everywhere. I felt like I was on an Island.
We went to another place for a Sunday Brunch called The Reef. You had the option to dine inside or outside facing the ocean. Of course we took the ocean view outside.
The choice was a breakfast menu, lunch menu or Brunch buffet, unless it was in the afternoon and then of course it was the dinner menu. I am not one to really care for a buffet as I never feel I eat our monies worth. Nope I'm not trying to be cheap but I am being logical. HOWEVER we decided on the buffet as soon as spotted CRAB LEGS (ALL YOU COULD EAT)...LOL! And oh did they have everything and anything from breakfast items, to imported cheeses, steak, seafood, veggies, salads, desserts and well, I can't even remember what all they did have! I ate my monies worth in crab legs and shrimp. I needed a nap after that adventure!
Isn't this Cross just beautiful? It is always lite up at night and so pretty.
The water was so calm and peaceful.
Back to reality it was though on Sunday night but we had a full three days of US time and enjoyed it. We did do a little shopping as in four weeks we will have a seven day family beach trip so needed to go ahead and pick up a few things for that trip.
And I have to show you Miss Annaleigh. Can you believe how much she has already grown and look at that smile. My mercy!
And of course this is our DIVA that will pose anytime you need for her too for a picture. She and her sister Mallory stay with me on Monday nights and Tuesdays during the summer. Never a dull or QUIET moment with the Diva around. LOL!
Can you guess what I having for lunch? YEP, a good old tomato sandwich....fresh out of the garden. Saving the jalapeno's for some poppers.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and remember..........
"It is the little things in life that bring the greatest pleasure".
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
With all the delicious food, how yo you keep your “girlish” figure? Oh... that’s right, Monday and Tuesday with the sisters!
ReplyDeleteI’m with you, love the beach!
Well Christine you just made my day! LOL! I can assure you if I ate like that every weekend the word FIGURE would take on a new meaning. LOL! Beach time is wonderful.
DeleteA good OLE mater sandwich is the best, esp made with fresh maters! Like a taste of summer with salt and pepper! haha...St Augustine, beautiful place. Looks like you two had a great time. Couple more weeks and I head to Southern Calif! Can't wait, missing my son.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Pam. Nothing like a mater sandwich with salt and pepper. Oh I know you are ready to see you son.
DeleteCindy, what a perfect getaway to your happy place. I am so glad you both had a great time. Annaleigh and the Diva are adorable! Blessings and hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam so much.
DeleteLoved the pictures Cindy. I too love Caps on the Water. My sister and I went there last year to eat. I have heard great things about the Reef too. Have you tried Salt Water Cowboys? Those girls are adorable and I can't get over how much baby girl has grown.
ReplyDeleteConnie Royals
Thanks Connie. Yes we have been to Saltwater cowboys numerous times. Love it! Try the Reef. Pricey but worth it to me.
DeleteCindy, You are a beautiful lady. I love the pictures of you and your husband. It does couples good to have that private time together. We love our children and family, but couple time is a bonding time. I want to comb the baby's hair. Wow what a head of hair. LOL. I would love one more trip to St. Augustine. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteYes time with your spouse is very important. I love Day Dates but I also love those little getaways. I sat there yesterday and played with Annaleigh's hair. She is so sweet.
DeleteLook at the view! I do adore the beach. And I love trees that are full of Spanish Moss, too! It looks like y'all had a marvelous time. Both those grands are just precious!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise. So glad you stopped by.
DeleteLooks like so much fun! I'd love a beach getaway this summer. We are working on a Texas Gulf Coast trip.
ReplyDeleteTexas Gulf Coast sounds fun Stacey.
DeleteWhat a fun little getaway. I love seafood so I was salivating over your tasty meals. I also don't do too well at buffets as I get full pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteI am not a All you can eat Buffet person but I was wanted LOTS of those crab legs and shrimp. LOL!
DeleteWhat a lovely and relaxing time for you and the hubs. Yes, we all need some time away with just the two of us. Y'all are too cute! And, Annaleigh, simply adoarable!! And, look at you, have another beach trip to look forward to. Blessigs abundant!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lea. Looking forward to our family beach trip. The grands makes it fun. We crab hunt at night and It's a hoot watching the kids.

ReplyDeleteGonna go ahead and admit it... oh, so jealous of your getaway. So glad you and Marty do that... very important for a marriage! That baby... she's a little Gerber baby. So pretty... all your grands are... Oh, one is handsome! ☺ You look great, Friend. Hope all is well with you! Love you bunches! 💜
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb. Yeah, that newest addition is growing so fast. She is already 4 weeks old.
DeleteIt looks like you all had a great time together at the beach! Yes, it’s good to take a few days off the regular routine and focus on each other. Blessings to you both! Zenda
ReplyDeleteWe did Zenda. So glad for the opportunity to just get away for a few days here and there. Love home...no place like home and most often I am ready to get back to my family. But, we all need those times when it's just the two of you.
DeleteNow I want to go to the beach more than ever after seeing all of your beautiful photos!. There's just nothing that compares with breathing that sea air and hearing the waves as they go in and out. I'm so glad you enjoyed this time together, the two of you. You seem to give so much to others all the time and this must have been a wonderful refresher to your soul. And that little Annaleigh is growing like a weed! How can she possibly get any cuter? Enjoy the rest of the week as you prepare for your next get-away. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks lady. Yes, I've already done a little shopping for the family beach trip. That's a good excuse to get a few new pieces of clothes. LOL!
DeleteOH, just the mention of "St. Augustine" brings such wonderful, peace-filled memories! We used to go there when we lived in FL, and it is such a neat place. I prayed in the little Lady of La Leche chapel when we were struggling with infertility, and there are so many other special and significant moments my dear Sweetie and I shared together there. We want to go back and take our sweet son with us, Lord willing. It looks like you had an amazing time, and I am so glad you got to go! That baby girl! Oh, my word! She is just a living doll baby. Of course, the little Diva is adorable, too! God has blessed you abundantly, sweet friend. Sending love and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteAwe, Cheryl. Many years ago on a day tour in St. Augustine we went to the Lady of La Leche chapel. Very pretty and the grounds so beautiful. I haven't thought about chapel until you mentioned it.
DeleteWhat a lovely time you've had! I love the sound of the water, but have only been to the ocean a couple times. Once to the Atlantic, and once to the Pacific.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful also that you can spend such time with your grand children!
Thanks Jennifer. We did enjoy.
DeleteMr. Sweet and I made our getaway to the beach every summer for years and years...much like yours. We had a small camper and cooked most of our food there, tho. How I miss it...and knowing I;ll never go there with him again for as long as I live breaks my olden heart.
ReplyDeleteI know you must miss those sweet times BJ and I know you miss your man my friend. I do hope you are feeling better.
DeleteOh how I need a beach getaway! Yours looks lovely and I am craving some seafood now. I would have to stay in the tent the whole time but with a good book, it would be all good. Glad you got a sweet getaway with your sweetie!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like a friend of mine Ann Marie. She said give her a tent, water and book and she'd be good to go. LOL!
DeleteWhat a wonderful vacation and so much to enjoy. Glad you could get away. US time is very important! You do a great job keeping up to your grandkids. Darling baby picture! Nancy
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. I am not so sure I do a good job keeping up with them but I can tell you they sure keep up with me! LOL!
DeleteCindy, Glad you had a great get away with your hubby! Sure looks like you had a great time.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy seeing the grandchildren! Your youngest has grown and your cute Diva with heart sunglasses is adorable.
You are making me want a BLT! I must go to the Farmers Market tomorrow. Grocery store tomatoes are not very good.
Happy Fourth!🇺🇸
OOH....nothing like a good BLT.
DeleteOh Cindy, your "Happy Place" looked and sounded absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour choice of restaurants...made my tummy growl. I love pancakes and would have likely eaten that plate full. Ha!

DeleteGood Morning Darling Friend!
ReplyDeleteI really don't believe that you eat much of this food! You have the cutest figure! I am so happy for you that you got away for a beach vacation. The sea and sand are always so soothing for my soul.
This darling grandbaby is growing like crazy and oh how I love her hair (just like her sister was when she was a newborn too)
Hugs and Blessings to you and this marvelous life you have carved out for you and your family.

ReplyDeleteThanks Angela.
DeleteHow fun for you and your sweetie to get away with just the two of you, dear Cindy! My late Beloved and I went to St. Augustine when our firstborn was just a wee toddler. It's such a dreamy place to visit. Your little Annaleigh is just a doll baby, and I know you have fun on Mondays and Tuesdays with your two granddaghters. Thanks for sharing your wonderful life! xx
ReplyDeleteWe had a great time Kitty. Thanks so much for stopping by.
DeleteCindy that is such a beautiful location. I'm glad you had plenty of shade to protect yourself from the wind and sun. When I was still in Greece we would go in the morning for a swim around 10 am and then we could be home before the heat of the day hit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary. We have a large tent so pretty much stay out there on the beach all day. Plenty of water and snacks and a good book! LOL!
DeleteSt. Augustine Is on our list of places we want to visit. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteAwe...hope you get to go. It's an hour and half from where I live. Surrounded by beaches.
DeleteThe beach is my happy place, too. Our Pacific Coast beach is very different that the East Coast but it's all beach - and I love it! So glad you could have time away. Your grandbaby is darling!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
I am learning so much about different types of beaches. One of my blogging friends said the beach she went too doesn't have beach sand, but pebbles. WOW! I love to feel that sand tween the toes though. LOL!
