Happy May!

Happy May! I wanted to pop in and share a few pictures from my month of April which seemed to fly by quickly. As I am trying to catch up with my blogging friends today I realized it had been a month since I last posted. My mercy! But, I am so busy doing this thing we call life here on earth and enjoying every moment that I can. With my immediate family of 14 there is never a dull moment y'all!   We had three family birthdays in April. My SIL David, granddaughter Adalynn and oldest granddaughter Raygen.  Our favorite grandson Conner (only grandson) carried his girl to the prom. We had to snap at least one picture with Mom and Nana! Two of my elementary school friends and I get together at least once every 4-5 weeks so we went to breakfast and then to  Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. We always have so much fun.  The gardens are so beautiful that I couldn't even attempt to snap all the pictures I wanted. There are so many beautiful paintings to look at this but this was one of

{Yard Sale Drawer Makeover and Hutch Completed}

I found a single drawer at a yard sale for a whole dollar and decided to give it a little makeover to use in my kitchen.

Took the knobs off, gave it a good sanding, and took a damp cloth and cleaned it up.

The White can of spray paint went to town! I sprayed three coats to get it like I wanted. Sanded the knobs down and gave them two coats of gray with a clear sealer.

Remember when I showed you the chair and tote box makeover? I love having that cute little chair as it serves many different purposes. I decided to move the herbs outside on my carport ledge and put them in small flower pots with drainage. Just so you know I was having a horrible time with roots rotting in the mason jars. My cute  dollar drawer makeover would now sit in the chair for a while.

But first, I needed to add some cute things to help it look complete. Love this cute little wooden sign. Two of my daughters has this sign on a wall in their in dining room. But, their signs are huge. This was just big enough that I could use it on this chair next to dining room table.

I grabbed a couple of things I had stashed in my she-shed to go into my drawer.

Decided to fill my drawer with a few dishes,  white milk glass pitcher and candlestick with bird. I placed cookbooks in the bottom of the drawer to give my cute things some height. The dessert plates in the drawer has already proven to be efficient for me too.  So many different ways I can decorate that little drawer in that chair. Just plain and simple but cute. I am already thinking about 4th of July! I've got lots of ideas for this $1 drawer.

As most know I had have my small corner hutch for a while now and that was a huge makeover. If you missed this makeover you can see it at https://creationsbycindyphotography.blogspot.com/2018/04/chair-and-hutch-makeover-brownies-and.html

Gave the top of hutch a small basket of green sprigs I've had for years and just a touch of green vine.

All the dishes displayed belong to my Grandmother and Motherinlove whom both are walking the streets of gold with the Lord.

The Blue Onion canisters belonged to my Motherinlove. As you can see the sugar dish has a different lid. The original one was missing so I improvised. I have been looking for a replacement but no luck yet.

All the blue and white place settings shown belonged to my grandmother including the cute blue jay.

Since I have two shelves at the bottom of the hutch with a door this gave me a chance to store a few dishes. I love these blue and white dishes and more so since they are heirlooms. I have more of her dishes in my she-shed.

The blue and dishes stored on the bottom shelf are just a few pieces that I bought a long time ago while out of town for a weekend. We came across a 50 plus family yard sale and I heard the word "STOP"! YES!  I am a fan of blue and white dishes.

I am very happy with how my hutch turned out and I love it that I can showcase a few pieces of my favorite heirlooms. I have several things that I will share with you when I can that belonged to my grandparents and even my great-grandparents. I am such a sentimental fuzzy gal about this kind of stuff.

And I can't do a post without showing you this sweet girl today. She is already two weeks old! Ooh, I could just kiss her sweet lips off!

I would like to leave this with you today.  "Always Stay Humble and Kind"

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  7. I just LOVE this darling transformation! Your extra added touches of sentimental dishes just makes it perfect. I am also partial to the blue & white dishes but mine aren't quite so heirloom in nature...that is unless you think that purchasing a place setting each time I visited a certain Kroger's store back in the 80s counts as such! Oh, and I made sure I got all of the other accessory pieces as well! Oh....and that little black-headed baby girl is beyond adorable! HUGS!

  8. I LOVE what you did with that drawer...what a great idea for something that would have just been thrown away...I love that idea....and I also love your blue dishes...I have blue dishes too...the Currier and Ives ones, but I saw that butter dish of your grandmothers...it is called "Blue Onion" pattern, and I have that same one that was MY grandmother's...although mine doesn't look as nice and clean as yours...many years of use I think the butter soaked into the china...and turned it a little dark around the edges...but that is so cool that it is the same one!!! I'll have to take a picture and send you sometime. Your kitchen is looking so homey and special with all of the new touches...love it. And your granddaughter is adorable...just so sweet...I'd love to squeeze her!! I'll bet you do all the time... Thank you for this delightful happy post today. I have enjoyed every minute of it!!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
