{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Sunflowers and Lemons}

I love sunflowers how about you? I found these adorable sunflower plates and matching bowls a while back and knew immediately that after my beach tablescape came down that Sunflowers would go up.  Bowls are perfect size for salads and soups...and Ice cream too...(hee-hee)

I adore Sunflowers and decided to do a tablescape to transition a bit towards Fall with sunflowers and lemons. I LOVE ALL THINGS LEMON

You just can't go wrong with a mason jar now can you?

I've been itching to add some red to a tablescape and since I LOVE ME SOME RED I went and grabbed my lovely napkins my friend Vicky made and gifted to me last Christmas.

After adding the red flatware it all began coming together.

Goblets and lace adds a sweet touch to me.

Candles can make plain old DIRT look good to me so next came a few of my vintage dishes and red candles.

Loving my sunflowers, lemons and OH YES, a touch of red.

Have I told y'all how much fun I am having with my little white chair in the kitchen corner with the drawer?

And this little cute wreath has some bling on it! LOVE IT!

I wanted to store dessert dishes, coffee cups, flatware and more napkins in my drawer sitting on the chair.

And of course a dish of lemons sealed the deal. I am ready for dessert and coffee.

I wanted to make a lemon icebox pie but decided on a peach and pear dump cake cobbler instead. HEY...it's all fruit right? AND....I already had the peaches so I picked some fresh pears off of my pear tree  and added to the peaches and there ya go.

I hope that you all have a wonderful blessed week and when you see a sunflower...be sure to think about the SON....and when you see a lemon...remember, not all people are as sour as they seem to be. You might just need to add a little sugar...kindness....to sweetened things up.

I want to share that
My friend Dianna that blogs at Forgiven

will post at the end of her blog post each week at least three things that she is thankful for. She is such an inspiration to me. In honor of you Dianna I want to say....

1. I am thankful for Dianna's inspiration
2. I am thankful for sunflowers but most importantly the SON that created them.
3. I am thankful for new faces I've encountered at my church and in our Ladies Bible Study.

  4. Oh I do love the sunflowers and lemons Cindy and that red really looks nice with your setting. My sister makes the cobbler dump cakes often and she says she likes them better than the regular cobbler. You are really enjoying that shelf and chair too. With your size family you will use it all.

  6. Oh girl....I LOVE the sunflowers and lemon combo! Adding those touches of red just makes the yellow pop even more! And those dishes....! I have to tell you that I have several pieces of the red King's Crown myself! My collection started out with one large stemmed bowl that my MIL had given up and a few years ago, my hubby bought me a set of tumblers and the smaller bowl like you have in your centerpiece! I think it is SO pretty! And, OMGoodness...that dump cake looks AMAZING!! I just may have to try that peach/pear combo! Sweet hugs to you, sweet friend!

    1. Thanks lady. A lady at church many years ago gave me several pieces of the Kings Crown. I kept thinking I would run across other pieces by accident at thrift store but I haven't. I too love how the red gave it all a pop. Marty said that dump cake cobbler was so good with vanilla bean ice cream. LOL!

  7. What a cheery post with your reds and yellows! I think sunflowers are like daisies, they're so friendly! I also own some pieces the King's Crown. My brother gifted me with the punch bowl set for Christmas when Hubby and I were first married. I love to pull it out for special occasions. Red, like yellow, is a very cheerful colour. Thanks for sharing.

    And that chair...love the wreath and how you have found a way to keep things handy that you would need for desserts, etc. in that drawer!

    You, sweet friend, have no idea how surprised I was to come to the end of your post and find my picture...and then your kind words. Tears came immediately. To God be the glory, my dear friend. xx

  18. Dear, sweet Cindy! You always pick me up when I get to come by here! I LOVE your beautiful tablescape, and that darling chair in the corner always warms my heart. It is funny that you are blogging about sunflowers, because I just read another blog (Debby Harris' blog) where she was talking about sunflowers and how they always turn their faces to the sun throughout the day. She talked about how they are a symbol of hope. Maybe that is why we are all drawn to them and love them so much. My sweet husband used to grow them when he did a huge garden each year, and I loved to go out back and stand under them. We found a big field of them growing by the side of the interstate, and i had to stop and walk over to them. They are just irresistible! Thank you for another uplifting, encouraging post. Sending love and hugs your way!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
