{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{The Famous Five and the Birthday Girl}

Hello dear blogging friends,

I want to start my day off with wishing my baby daughter, Marti Leigh, a very happy birthday. Can't believe my baby is 32 years old. Her daddy is sure getting old! LOL!

The most wonderful thing about daughters being your little girls is they grow up to be your best friend. God has surely blessed me.

The birthday girl along with her sisters and spouses went out together for a birthday outing and Marty and I had all six of the grands. What a fun day. Swimming, fishing, eating lots of pizza and oh yes....chocolate chip cookies. Crafts, pear picking, and watching a little Hallmark finished our day out. We had a good day and so did my girls on the birthday outing.

And when you have all 6 ranging from 14 years old to 3 months old you must wear lots of lipstick. That way you can leave your MARK on thier cute little faces....Whether they like it or not. Hee-hee.

Now onto the Famous Five. Be sure to post your answers

Getting ready to plant sunflowers for Fall.

1: If you wear Lipstick what is your most favorite go to color?

2: Are you a fan of flavored teas? Hot, cold or both?

3: Do you hand write out notes to yourself or type them on your phone or pray you remember your notes in your head?

4: What is one place that you would like to visit that you have never been before?

Last one..........

5: What is a quotememe, or something that someone has said lately that has spoken to your heart, made you laugh, smile or simply made you think?

My new Bible tote...don't ya just love it?

Here's my answers:

1: My go too color all year round is Raisinberry. During the summer months I do enjoy the lighter colors especially the corals. But go to color is hands down raisinberry by L'Oreal.
2: I like cold and hot teas and I love trying new teas. I found a new black cold tea that I really like. Not too sweet and I love the hint of lemon.

3: Well, I can assure you if my notes are not written down I will not remember! LOL! I am actually a note maker so much so that I ALWAYS keep paper and pen on my breakfast bar. I have to write things down and I have never been one to use my phone for notes. I guess I should but then I would forget I put a note on there!

4: Oh I have many places I'd like to visit and some right here in the big state of Florida. But...I would like to go to Hawaii. I actually would love to go on a cruise to Hawaii because I want to visit at least 3-4 islands. That's on my list of wishes. But my wish list is 10 feet long...Hey, it doesn't hurt to wish, right? Dreams can come true.

5:  I saw this and it made me laugh and smile.

I hope that you have a great day and remember......

  1. You have a beautiful family...and like you, I than the good LORD every day for mine, too.

  2. I wore Midnight Mauve for years and the stinkers discontinued it. BooHiss, like your color, might try it!! I love tea, hot or cold. I guess my favorite flavor is just plain lemon. I love to write notes, nowadays I tend to print them, but I always hand write the name of whom it's going and my name at the end. I would love to tour the entire country of England, I have always loved English history. Time to put on some lipstick! lol

  3. You have such a beautiful bunch of girls, dear Cindy! I think Marti Leigh looks most like you. Here are my answers:
1: I don't necessarily have color by name but I like a sheer gloss a little darker than my normal lip color. My lips are thin and and dark or bright color makes them look even thinner!
2: I do like flavored hot teas...fruity flavors, but not so much cold...to tell you the truth, if I am to drink cold tea, my favorite is completely right out of the bag with no flavorings or sweetener.
    3. All of the above...mostly a hand-written list though...there's just something about actually writing things out by hand.
4: Ireland is on my bucket list but I'll go anywhere anyone wants to send me!5: "God is bigger than anything you will face tomorrow."

    Fun post...have a blessed week!

    1. Awe thank you sweet friend. Yes, all of her life she has been told that she looked like mama! Maybe she will grow out of it! LOL! Ireland sounds wonderful. And yes mam...someone wants to send me I will load up quick like! I think the older we get the thinner our lips get....Girl, I used to have those fat lips that women pay big bucks to get! Dang, I should have appreciated them then huh!

  4. Happy birthday to the beautiful birthday girl. You are indeed blessed Cindy. Bet you slept good after having 6 grands. LOL! Love the collage. Love your questions Cindy. I am your light tinted pink lipstick gal and most often forget to put it on. I just want regular ice tea and cold.YES I am a note maker. I have a small bucket list and a big one. Small one-I want to see the Ark in KY. Bigger one: Italy. Momma always said that "pretty is as pretty does". This was fun.

    1. Girl, you have to go to the ARK. I had a few friends tell me it was okay to them but they were glad they went. I loved it! But I think my frame of mind was ready for the ARK experience. Well...you know what my prayer was at that time and God answered. CRAZY how God can use an ark. YES...Italy sounds fun too! Wish me and you were rich! LOL! My granny always said that saying too.

  5. Love seeing your gorgeous family, Cindy.

I don't have a favorite or signature color of lipstick. I'm working on it though!
Love cold tea that I brew here at home.
I write things down...I lose the note...the cycle starts over. :)

    1. Girl, I keep paper and pen with me everywhere I go. I use good old fashion lipton tea for cold tea at home. I used to be a heavy tea drinker but got on a water kick and the next thing I knew my cold ice tea (SWEET too) was for Sundays. That is when I drink a few glasses of sweet tea. When out to eat I usually do half and half. Glad you stopped by.

  10. What a collage jam packed with beautiful ladies! I agree with your comment about having girls! I have 3 daughters myself! Hmmm,... to answer your questions: I tend to pick lipstick shades similar to the color you have chosen, I love all teas, I have not met one yet that I didn't like!! And it has to be in a pretty cup! I am starting to write notes though I would prefer to be able to remember everything....but sigh, it doesn't always happen!....and the place that I cannot stop thinking about visiting is Iceland...and I'm going to do it! So nice catching up on blog reading! This was fun! Linda

  11. Happy Birthday to your beautiful Marti Leigh!! You're so funny in saying that her Daddy sure is getting old!! HA HA! How nice that you watched all six of the grands, and kissed them with your Raisinberry lipstick.
I wear Cover Girl Oh Sugar in Candy, Soda, and Caramel (doesn't that just sound like me?)
I am a fan of flavored tea, both cold and hot.
I write out notes, and have a notepad on my counter.
I want to go to so many places...a cruise in the Fall sometime to see the leaves change, the New England states, England, Sedona, California, etc., etc.
Here's a funny quote I read: Pilates? Oh heck no! I thought you said PIE and LATTES!

  13. Cindy, I love how your family celebrates together and with your large group you are always having a party!
I have worn the same shade of lipstick for years and they have discontinued it. I ordered some on line that was surplus but am on the last tube. It is a fushia color and has a moist feel by Estee Lauder. I wish they wouldn't change the colors.
I had to chuckle about taking notes on your phone. I remembered doing that last week when you said that. Have I looked at it? No! I usually keep lists in a pocket size notebook I get at Wal Mart and I have a stack of the old ones. It is amazing the information in them I need to refer back to.
One place I would like to visit is New England during the fall when the leaves are turning such beautiful colors.
I don't drink much tea in the summer. It is a treat if I have glass of half sweet half unsweet iced tea. In the winter I drink hot tea and enjoy different flavors.
Thanks for your sweet visit. You always are so positive and I enjoy your humor and sweet spirit in your posts.

  14. Happy birthday to your sweet girl! I know you and your hubby had as much fun with the grands as they did at the birthday party...maybe more!?

My go-to lipstick is Rose and Shine by Revlon. I'm not a real tea drinker but do enjoy some peach tea now and then. I HAVE to write down everything...on paper! I'd like to go to Hawaii, too. My sister and her hubby have been there twice (on cruises) and she said it's just gorgeous! As a reading teacher, my favorite quote was "Practice makes Better." I know you are getting excited about the grand on the way. Keep us posted.

  15. Marti Leigh is beautiful, just like her sweet Momma! 💜 I'm gonna try to answer your questions! Here goes....

1: If you wear Lipstick what is your most favorite go to color?
Cover Girl #420... don't know the name... it's a medium pink

2: Are you a fan of flavored teas? Hot, cold or both?
I only like iced tea with lemon... an orange slice if I'm at Chic-Fil-A!

3: Do you hand write out notes to yourself or type them on your phone or pray you remember your notes in your head?
I use Color Note, an app on my phone.... and a huge chalkboard in the kitchen!

4: What is one place that you would like to visit that you have never been before?
Well, you know that Jack is a homebody so the grocery store is about the limit of where we travel... so I'd love to go just about anywhere! 😁

5: What is a quote, meme, or something that someone has said lately that has spoken to your heart, made you laugh, smile or simply made you think?
"Tell the story of the mountain you climbed. Your words could become a page in someone else's survival guide. ~~Morgan Nichols~~

Hope you have a great week! Love you, Friend!

  16. Happy Birthday to Marti Leigh!! It sounds like you and those younguns had a wonderful day together! That baby is just a doll~well, they all are!! Thanks for the fun, little quiz. My answers are: #1. I don't wear lipstick. I know you must be gasping! LOL! I like to wear lip gloss sometimes, though. #2. I prefer coffee over tea, but when I do drink tea, I like it cold. :) #3. I am so forgetful, oh, my! I could never remember things if I didn't write them down. I always write them by hand, but then the problem comes from me forgetting where I put the note! LOL! #4. Definitely Montana. I have wanted to go there for years. I want to go on a blogging tour and meet so many friends (including you ~ wouldn't that be nice?) and definitely include Montana in there somewhere! #5. The thing that has most made me think lately is how God keeps allowing "There Is A River" to come across my path. First, I had the song pop into my head one day, out of the blue, after not hearing it for meany years. Then, sweet Bettie G. had a video of it on her blog, then it ended up being on a CD our son just bought and I didn't even know it until it started playing, then sweet Pam Richardson used it as the Scripture on her blog! This all happened in a matter of days. I am not sure what God is trying to tell me, but somehow, I sense a blog post in there somewhere! Thanks for this fun time, sweet friend. I always leave your place feeling refreshed in spirit. I love and appreciate you!

I think I would prefer to cruise too. I used to be a coffee person but lately it hasn't agreed with me much so I've switched to teas and I love them! 21. Great blog Cindy....haha, bet those grandbabes had you hoping all over the place. Wished I had the energy to actually spend a lot of time with my babes. Okay, now for the answers to your five...1. NOPE...I do not wear lipstick. Never have. I wear (not as much since retiring) foundation, eyeliner, mascara and blush. 2. Yes I love COLD flavored tea. When I had kids here I used to make tea at least once every other day but now I but Kroger brand. I buy unsweet decaf and a sweet decaf. I mix them but I also keep V8 mango peach juice and most times I only fix a unsweet and top it off with my juice. 3. I write notes, I use a fold out calendar that I can carry with me. I do not set an alarm for calender reminders in my phone and I never add a note to the phone. I keep a notebook and pen in the car for notes if out and about. 4. New England states...and I would prefer that be during the fall months and 5. I hear and read things all the time that I try to make a mental note to remember...haha...and that never works but I have one I use all the time... Laugh often, laugh hard and laugh out loud! I live by that moto cause on rough days, it helps. Thanks also for your nice comment on the blog. My struggles are real and a "PAIN", no pun intended.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
