Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As I have thought about this past week I am truly thankful for all that Christ has done for me and my family. So undeserved and yet He lavishes us with blessing after blessing.
One of those blessings was having a Nana Blessing Basket bake day with the grandgirls.
Grandgirls had a sleepover at Nana's house and the next morning after breakfast we began our baking.
Each one had their apron on and ready to bake. Well, except for that sweet youngest grandgirl. She just wanted to taste and smile. She smiles all the time. Such a blessing.
It was such a joy to have my grandgirls in the kitchen with me.
My one and only grandson decided that all of us gals might be too much woman power for him so he didn't get in on the baking. But treats was indeed sent home for him.
Oh yes! Give me that beater!
And of course a taste test needed to be done on each item baked you know!
Each granddaughter helped in some way or another. We had so much dessert that we kept some at home, I sent some to all three daughter's homes, and gave a sweet family member some treats. But, the best part of all was making a "Blessing Basket" for a sweet lady at our church to enjoy.
We gathered up a basket along with candy, hot chocolate, ribbon, Thanksgiving dessert plate, napkin and a card. We assembled the "Blessing Basket", signed her card, and then we stopped...........and we prayed. We prayed over our basket of goodies to be enjoyed but most importantly we prayed over our sweet lady that would receive it.
What better to teach the younger ones that it is ALWAYS better to GIVE than to RECEIVE. To always try to be a blessing to others because I can assure you that you can't out bless God! When we are a blessing to others those blessings come back in full swing and then some. Each week I try to pray...Lord, show me this week who I can be a blessing too in some way. Whether it be by words or action. And girls....I miss it some weeks, I truly do. But, my heart's desire is not only to see my grandchildren grow in Christ but to see them SERVE HIM by SERVING others.
Our sweet lady loved her basket and shared with her grandchildren. What a blessing to be a blessing.

After our family Thanksgiving this year some of my family left Thanksgiving afternoon and went to Georgia to enjoy a little hunting, a little shopping and the birthday girl!
Our Mallory Grace turned 11. We had a great time.
She is my well rounded grandgirl. She can doll up with the best of them...play ball, twirl, and slap some camo on quick like and shoot the biggest buck ever!
We surely had a blessed Thanksgiving and holiday weekend. When shared with those you love the most, it is always a blessing.
Now....time to get my Christmas on!
Free printable I found on the web.
Well, I have decorated some already. I have never been one to put my tree up before Thanksgiving but this year, I finished it the night before Thanksgiving and have most everything decorated except for my tablescape. Most of my gifts are bought and waiting to be wrapped. Girls...it takes me all day now to do what it used to take me 2 hours to do so I had to start early! LOL!
Have a wonderful week and be a blessing to someone. It will truly bless you more.
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Yes it is a wonderful time of year! Enjoyed all the pictures of you and your wonderful girls making precious memories. Their aprons were adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks Miss Mary. We had fun.
DeleteWonderful pictures Cindy and yes indeed it a wonderful thing to teach these children it's better to give than to receive. I am afraid there's many adults who never learned this. So much selfishness in our world today. The birthday girl is adorable. I love how you all do life together.
ReplyDeleteConnie Royals
Thanks Connie. Yes mam, totally agree about the selfishness! I will refrain from getting on that wagon today! LOL! The birthday girl had a ball.
DeleteAw, what a sweet post, Cindy! I have just the opposite; all grandsons and one little granddaughter! Alas, she lives on the opposite side of the country too and I only get to see her every two years. I love the blessing basket idea for your lady friend! I know she was blessed just as you all were to gift it to her. Sounds like you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. The Lord is good! Have a lovely last week of November! Blessings to you all! Sandi
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandi. I got to enjoy the grandson a little over the Thanksgiving weekend. I feel bad for him at times as he is the only boy on both sides of his parents families. Yes, the Lord is good indeed.
DeleteYou are a treasure, my friend! I love having my grandgirls in the kitchen with me, too. Only I don't have as many as you. The blessing comes in the time spent with them and they with each other and then the biblical life lesson you led them in doing the blessing basket for a dear lady. I had tears in my eyes as I read through all of that. xx I started my decorating for Christmas early this year too...for the same reason. I don't have the tree up yet, but that is this afternoon's project. :) I was hoping to see a picture of yours...maybe next week? xo
ReplyDeleteAwe, you are so sweet Dianna. You are so right...the blessing does indeed come from the time spent together. Our sweet lady just recently lost her husband of many years. I truly felt that maybe, just maybe, she could use a little extra blessing for Thanksgiving. Hope you have a great week dear friend.
DeleteSuch beautiful Thanksgiving memories here and sweet, sweet grandchildren. You certainly are blessed!
ReplyDeleteThanks Melanie. I am one blessed nana!
DeleteCindy, it looks like you had a wonderful time with the grandgirls! And what a wonderful treat for someone else...to receive the treats you made...truly a blessing. I hope each day that I'm a blessing to someone...but like you, I feel that I fall short of that. I am thankful that God gives me another day to try to be more for Him and for others! Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great time Benita. Made some sweet memories and laughed a whole bunch. Mercy do I ever fall short in blessing others but I so desire to be a blessing. You know...it really doesn't take a lot either. Sometimes it's simply our words or even a small kind deed.
DeleteWhat wonderful blessings you have! I need some of those baking helpers!!! I'm glad you had such a blessed Thanksgiving!! I'm almost all decorated too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. I still need to change a few things around and do my table but hoping by the weekend to have it wrapped and done!
DeleteWhat a blessed family you have dear friend! My girls and granddaughters do a Christmas baking day every year and it's such a joy. Licking those beaters is a must! :) Wishing you a blessed holiday season!!

ReplyDeleteYour grand girls are learning from the best role model, their Grandma!
All of the girls are cute but what they did, was BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you my friend . The girls was so proud of their baking skills and the basket . It truly blessed me more than anyone else .
DeleteOh, what a precious gesture to teach your grands about reaching out to an elderly person and bless them like this! I LOVE your basket idea, and to know that you used this as such a profound learning experience with those little ones is just so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your beautiful, wonderful life with us here, sweet friend. And, that is one HUGE buck! WOW! May God bless all of you to continue to enjoy this Christmas season, sweet friend. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl . My grandgirl harvested that fine buck last year . She was so excited . Needless to say, he’s mounted and on the wall .
DeleteLove your post and the pictures of your beautiful family. I've started doing a little Christmas decorating, but still not sure about a tree this year. We are trying to sell the house, and just had someone look at it, and if they come back and want it...I don't really want to drag all that stuff out just to have to pack it back up again. So I am waiting a few days to see what develops. Shopping? Well, that's another issue that I won't discuss...it will be very simple and somewhat sparse this year. But we will still celebrate the Birthday of the King no matter what happens or where we are!! Merry Christmas to you and yours. Love what you did with the grandgirls for Thanksgiving. That is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating the King is the best gift of all dear Pam . Praying God opens doors for your home .
DeleteJust look at all those goodies you baked with your darling grandgirls!!! I loved seeing this heartwarming post, Cindy, and to know you how all blessed that sweet lady and prayed over her basket. Your grands are so cute, and the baby is growing so fast. My Hayden is like your littlest ant smiles all the time, and rarely ever cries. Don't they bring us the most joy? Thank you for sharing your love, happiness and giving spirit with us. Love to you!
ReplyDeleteThat sweet girl is growing . Can’t believe she’s 6 months old already . Kitty she has turned into such a good baby . Once she got out of the newborn stage she’s been the sweetest .
DeleteYour pictures and your words in this post have been a blessing to me! What fun! I think I will try a baking day with "the girls" next year. We have been going out to a movie and dinner every year before Christmas ($$$$$$) and it is just not thrilling anymore! Fun post!
ReplyDeleteThanks my friend . Awe yes you should Ann marie do a baking day with your girls . It would be so much fun and the memories can’t be bought ❤️
DeleteWhat a fun day you all had! You are truly blessed to be able to do this and I love the idea of the blessing basket! Nancy
ReplyDeleteYes we had a good time Nancy. I surely did enjoy it all. Now, I was one tired nana later but it was so worth it.
DeleteHi Cindy... My goodness, you have some gorgeous granddaughters!!! The pics are great. I don't know who looks like they are having more fun - you or the girls! What sweet memories you all are having! Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. Yes we did make some sweet memories.
DeleteWhat a wonderful legacy you are leaving for those precious grands of yours. May they never forget such great lessons, all about blessing others! And I am sure you saw to that Mallory Grace had a very special 11th birthday. As for me, I am ever so thankful that you are my dear friend! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteAwe Debby, I am thankful for you as well. We surely have so much to be thankful for and are so blessed. Mercy, how can we not bless others? Hugs to you.
DeleteThe Blessing Basket is such a wonderful idea, and incredibly thoughtful Cindy! You are giving your grandgirls such a gift by teaching them to give and praying with them. I can't imagine what your kitchen must have looked like after your bake-a-thon! What fun!!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thanks Jenna. We had fun. Girl, I am one that cleans as I go in the kitchen. And I usually have my trash can nearby as well as bowls to catch the egg shells and that sort of thing. I try to prep as much as I can. BUT......Girl.....Thank the Lord for a dishwasher on that day! LOL! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHello Cindy, As always your post is like a sunshine to my face. How wonderful seeing Nana and grandkids..so adorable. I wanna be a nana like you after 10 years... ha ha ha! Well Im 49 and my eldest is 22, so I suppose in 10 years time is nice. ha ha.. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you . ❤️ Well there’s nothing like the love one has for thier grands . I’m sure one day you will know that sweet kind of love dear lady .
DeleteWe've been away for a few days (again) and I'm catching up one more time! I love this idea. What a fun day with a purpose. I'd love to be your taste-tester but it looks like you've got that covered.
