{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu

{Happy, Happy, Happy}

My Sunflowers are blooming and oh so pretty.

I planted my first sunflowers ever the year after my motherinlove went home to be with the Lord. October made 4 years that she has been gone so this is my 3rd year of planting them. She loved sunflowers so much and I wanted to try my hand at them in memory of her.

God has been very sweet to me and allowed those cuties to always bloom and be healthy.

This year my sunflowers became heirlooms at that as my sister Mary harvested her seed from the summer before. I was going to harvest mine from last year but either it was too wet or the birds ate all the seeds.

You can see a bee in the middle of the one of the sunflowers. The bees are loving them. It doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy but my sunflowers are surely on that list!

The sunflower’s yellow color symbolizes vitality, intelligence, and happiness. The color yellow also traditionally symbolizes friendship. No matter how small or how little light there is, sunflowers are believed to seek out the light and hold their heads high as if in worship and adoration of the sun.

Some of my sunflowers are HUGE! The plate is a full size dinner place.

Here is the head of just one of the sunflowers sitting on the plate.

Needless to say I am surely enjoying the beautiful sunflowers.

And these two Sunflowers too because they surely make me smile!
Spent some sweet time with these sweet girls over the weekend. My youngest daughter and I went to Georgia to do a little hunting with the guys so we took turns keeping the little ones.

Nothing like Sisters!

This little gal is at that fun age where it makes life so precious seeing things through her eyes.

And there is nothing like enjoying some quiet time in those Georgia Pines and Cotton Fields.

Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving? It's just crazy at how fast this year has flown by to me. I am looking forward to turkey and dressing with giblet gravy. That will make me really happy! LOL! How about you? What's on your menu for Thanksgiving?

 I hope you all have a wonderful week. And....remember.............

  1. Your sunflowers are gorgeous!! I think sunflowers are so pretty. Close to where I live there used to be a huge field, and I do mean HUUUUGGGEEE field of sunflowers. I would take photos all the time. Then, one day, the cleared it out and started building yet another high school! My yard isn't large enough to plant them and show them off the way they should be, so I have to live vicariously through others...admiring and loving their pieces of sunshine! Thank you for sharing that story and those photos...so beautiful! Love and hugs!

  2. Beautiful sunflowers and kids! I love sunflowers. They make such pretty bouquets. Turkey and dressing sounds so good. We gather at my sister's house and we always have a feast of the traditional Thanksgiving foods. This year we may fry a turkey as well as bake one.

  7. Hello, sweet Cindy! I can’t believe you still have sunflowers blooming! We’ve had a very early snowfall and ‘oh so cold’ temperatures this week here in Missouri. J’s birthday was this week and he always enjoys deer hunting on his big day. He didn’t enjoy it as much this year! Burr! I’m enjoying spending time with little Jack! His mom and dad went hunting this afternoon and we kept him all afternoon!! Such fun! You’re right, those grand babies are God’s greatest blessings! Happy week to you! Z

  8. I look forward to sunflowers every summer. If I don't grow my own, I can depend on my Aaron to grow his HUGE monster ones...nearly 10 feet high or more...he grows then in amongst his corn in the garden. Did you get a deer? My grandson got a shot on an 8 pointer in TN last weekend and thought for sure he had it..they never found any evidence of it...no blood trail, nothing. He was so disappointed but that's the name of the game when you are a hunter. Those darling grands of your just make me smile whenever I see their little faces! And I am almost in disbelief that Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK! It looks like I will be cooking for a crowd...turkey, ham...the whole nine yards! Our little group of 4-5 has turned into about a dozen!

  16. Oh, your sunflowers have made me smile so big. I love that you planted these in memory of your mother in law, and they are doing so beautifully. My MIL would have loved them too. I want to plant something in her memory, but since we are planning to move soon (if anyone would ever come look at this house and love it and buy it) so I am waiting to plant something in our NEW home wherever and whenever we get there! Your little grandgirls are so adorable. You are truly blessed. And to go hunting together and have such fun outdoors in God's beautiful creation...what a joy. Yes, we are looking forward to Thanksgiving too...our big dinner will be on friday instead of Thursday due to family conflicts...but it will be a BIG one, so it will be grand. Praise God! Thank you for the sunflower smiles today.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th
