{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Bohemian Baby Shower}

Don't you just love the bohemian look? Seems everywhere I turn the new decor for parties is the bohemian style. Our niece Becca is expecting her first baby is July so our family threw her a little baby shower. Bohemian style.

My SIL Becky found a lady to make all the flowers, leaves and etc. and she simply placed it on bead board for a backdrop. I thought it turned out adorable.

 This cute little mama to be enjoyed her shower very much. She's having a girl in case you can't tell by the decor. It is her motherinlove's, my SIL Becky's first grandchild. Needless to say there is excitement in the air! Oh I remember the birth of my first grandchild as though it was yesterday. Now she is 15 years old.

We had a dessert only shower and oh my! Too much good stuff to choose from. See that adorable cake in the center? My SIS Shirley makes the BEST hummingbird cake you will ever eat! It is probably her most requested dessert.

 Butter cake pink gel tinted with buttercream icing.

Since desserts only was the menu I decided to do several different desserts. I have cookie cutters of all sizes so found my square ones and cut out mini cakes from a sheet cake.

 I had bought some new candy molds a while back and was waiting for just the perfect occasion to use them. The pink little chocolates are white chocolate with a dollop of buttercream frosting. The chocolate molds was regular chocolate with peanut butter filling. AND YES THOSE THINGS TASTED GOOD! Who doesn't like chocolate and peanut butter?

Since I was in a baking mood and on a roll that day I decided to make mini trifle's. But, I was smart you see. I had one small yellow green and pink tinted cake leftover from the granddaughter's Unicorn party and froze it! YES, it was perfect for mini trifles with vanilla pudding and cool whip. And why not just go ahead and make brownies with caramel icing! Lord have mercy! I gained 10 lbs just baking!

We had every kind of dessert of you could imagine.

My youngest daughter hosted the sweet shower in her home and it was a perfect day.

We even got to use my little teepee again for the gifts. I have certainly gotten my monies worth out of that and more. If you would say a little prayer for Alice Evie's arrival  it would be most appreciated. We are praying for a non complicated labor and delivery with a healthy mama and baby.

My SIL Becky gave each us a succulent to take home. Mine is already in a pot.

We had a great time. My other niece, Tiffany, she is on the far right is due with her 2nd baby in July. She has a little girl and is now having a boy! Our family just keeps growing. God is so good to us!

And the dessert of the party was hands down the humming bird cake. Not sure if my SIL was able to carry any back home because everyone was slicing a piece to carry home. LOL!

Needless to say my mixer got a work out that day!

This sweet girl will be celebrating her first birthday this Saturday so Nana went and ahead and baked her Smash cake and Birthday cake to freeze. I like baking ahead and freezing my cakes and I do so when opportunity arises. Sure saves me some time. Especially when one is slow as I seem to be these days. Girls, it takes me all day to do what it used to take me only a couple of hours to do. PLEASE tell me I am not alone?

Her smash cake will be two 6 inch cakes.

 Her birthday cake will be three 12 inch cakes.
 I think it would be safe to say that I am NO LONGER in the baking mood. LOL!

I will be sharing more birthday pictures next week. Bet y'all are shocked! All my grandbabies celebrate their birthdays from March through May except for one and she celebrates in November. WHEW...We sure do have lots of cake for a few months.

As always, I want to leave you with something to think about. This is something my cousin Genia shared on FB recently and maybe someone today needs to read this.

 I pray you all have a wonderful week and remember, ENJOY life to the fullest.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. There is something so cute and precious about an expectant mama!
    And to celebrate her in this style, is amazing! I would sampled each and everyone of the desserts.
    Haha! You are so funny... I'm with you on how long it takes to do anything anymore.
    But what a great hint, freeze the cake ahead of time.
    Looking forward to some of your great pictures!

  5. What a lovely baby shower! I know your niece really appreciated all of your efforts and, oh, those desserts looked delicious! This is the third time I’ve heard of a hummingbird cake and can honestly say, I don’t think I’ve ever had it. I’m going to have to look up a recipe and give it a try. I’m with you about getting things done. Not sure if it’s my energy level or if I get distracted more... or both! HA! I’m just believing it’s God’s plan, so I don’t hurt myself as I age!! ☺️

    Have a great week, dear Cindy!

  10. What a sweet and I mean SWEET shower! Those sweets look so GOOD. I made a hummingbird cake two weeks ago for church function. All the desserts look so good. I am so used to the traditional blue and pink for baby showers so it was refreshing to see something different. That decor would be cute for any party. Can't believe that baby will be a year old Cindy. What an adorable picture of her too. Lady, it's a good thing you have that mixer with all that baking. Can't wait to see pictures.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
