Happy May!

Happy May! I wanted to pop in and share a few pictures from my month of April which seemed to fly by quickly. As I am trying to catch up with my blogging friends today I realized it had been a month since I last posted. My mercy! But, I am so busy doing this thing we call life here on earth and enjoying every moment that I can. With my immediate family of 14 there is never a dull moment y'all!   We had three family birthdays in April. My SIL David, granddaughter Adalynn and oldest granddaughter Raygen.  Our favorite grandson Conner (only grandson) carried his girl to the prom. We had to snap at least one picture with Mom and Nana! Two of my elementary school friends and I get together at least once every 4-5 weeks so we went to breakfast and then to  Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. We always have so much fun.  The gardens are so beautiful that I couldn't even attempt to snap all the pictures I wanted. There are so many beautiful paintings to look at this but this was one of

{Cake Mix Cookie Bars, Garden Potatoes and Life As We Know It}

The best time to drink Coffee is ANYTIME to me but I would say NOW might be a good time to drink coffee. I might run out of TP but I am surely trying to keep my coffee supply plentiful along with my green tea. I love a cup of hot or cold green tea too!

So, in the midst of everything that we all are dealing with right now I needed a little baking therapy, so baking it was.

I made a batch of simple cake mix cookie bars. I did not have any regular M&Ms to use but just so happened to have a small box of pastel colored M&Ms.  Mercy, chocolate chips and M&Ms make life so much better doesn't it? And....for me, add a cup of coffee and YEP...I will survive! I wanted to share the recipe with you.

Cake Mix Cookie Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (I used Duncan Hines)
  • 1 small box vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mini M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. In a large bowl combine cake mix, pudding, water, oil and eggs using a mixer.
  3. Mix until well combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips and M&Ms.
  5. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
  6. Bake for 24-28 minutes or until golden brown on the edges

    TIP: For a real pretty dessert to carry out to family, friend, church or etc. event (that is when we get to GO OUT) use an additional 1/2 cup of M&M's to sprinkle on top before baking.

    I also pulled my first batch of new potatoes and YES...they went into a pot of green beans with ham for Sunday dinner. YUM! Nothing like the food you grow from your dirt.

    My prayers are wide and abroad my friends as we tackle a new way of life for us right now. In the midst of all that is happening I am keeping my eyes focused on Jesus. May we Praise Him in the midst of our Prayers to Him too. He is worthy of our Praise no matter what we battle.

    Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. The world is surely beckoning for us to focus on everything but Jesus for sure. But, when I find myself becoming overwhelmed I am reminded that "perfect Love cast out fear" and that Our Father surely does love me so very much and I need not to fear. Hope you are doing well and thank you for your sweet comment.

  16. Good morning, dear Cindy! Yes, baking and cooking help keep me grounded during these trying times. J has even noticed our meals are a bit more elaborate. My MIL fell while walking on the lane between our houses and broke her left wrist. She’s doing very well but her gadding about has been curtailed. (God works in mysterious ways!) We are keeping her in meals although she’s learning to do more and more with the cast. And our son will be home tomorrow evening - he’s driving through less populated areas from Montana - so the cooking will ramp up some more! It will be so good to have him under our roof, although in the basement for a time to be sure he didn’t catch the dreaded virus. Oh, these times! Glad you’re staying well and enjoying those new potatoes!! Stay healthy, my friend! ❤️🙏🏻❤️

  17. Such a crazy time in the world! Love the pic of you pulling your taters. I have never done that before and at this stage in my life I am happy to say....I HOPE I don't have to start now. haha...I am 60 and started drinking coffee at 32. No clue why I decided to take it on at that time of my life. I think I just wanted to fit in with the rest of the office. I never was hard core at it, mine has to flavored. But I have pretty much given it up lately. I had a cup the other day but its not a NEED to do .....funny. I baked cookies the other day also, from a package. Yep, not really the way to go, not as tasty. But...hey they were CHOC chip. Can't go wrong with CHOC! Stay safe.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
