Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
My first born celebrated her birthday and I must say, her daddy is sure getting older! We had a wonderful lunch and my oldest granddaughter baked her mama a birthday cake. Doesn't it look too pretty to eat? My grandgirl has become quite the baker and that makes me so happy.
Kristy is quite amazing. She truly has a kind and humble spirit that shows the love of Christ to her family, friends and to all that know her. We couldn't be more proud of her.
I decided it was time to do my nails so I made myself a nail appointment at Cindy's Nail Salon. I have no excuse for not doing them as I keep plenty of nail supplies around for the grandgirls. Mercy, I have a whole cabinet of nail stuff. When you have five granddaughters then you have nail supplies, hair bows, lipstick and stuff to make cookies!
I probably threw away at least a dozen bottles that had dried up. But finally narrowed it down to a few of my favorite colors.
Now to make myself a pedi appointment...LOL!
I was checking on my little garden one morning last week and these flowers were blooming with delight. "Bloom where you are planted" was my very first thoughts....amazing at how the Lord speaks to us through His beautiful creations.
I hope that you all have a great week and remember.....
Sometimes it is just hard to have JOY especially when things around you don't seem too joyous. Choosing JOY regardless of the situation at hand can surely change our attitude. As a child of the King I realize that real joy only comes from Him.
I am reminded of a favorite childhood song.
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy,
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart,
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy,
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart to stay.
I will be singing this all day now....
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart,
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy,
Down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart to stay.
I will be singing this all day now....
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Your daughter's scrumptious chocolate cake is making my mouth water. YUM!
ReplyDeleteYour visit to "Cindy's Nail Salon" made me laugh. You nailed it. HA!
My granddaughter loves to bake and I have bought her so much cake decorating things over the past couple of years. I love it that she loves it! YES GIRL...Cindy's nail salon is in business. Well, just for me and the grandgirls. LOL!
DeleteYou narrowed down your nail polish bottles to your favorite colors: red, red, red, and red. Oh you girl!
ReplyDeleteThat CAKE! I gained 5# just looking at it! What a happy celebration you had for your daughter's birthday. She's a doll!
LOL Barbara! Those strawberries was soooooo good too!
DeleteOh, my goodness, I can hardly wait to get my feet done and a manicure. Not going to get the dip done any longer, now that my nails are half way grown out, I'm not going to put that stuff on them anymore. I'll get manicures and regular polish. And, my hair, that's a whole other issue. I'll be first in line. :o))
ReplyDeleteI got a feeling Lea that the hair salons will be working 24-7! LOL! Well I am going to admit that I would much rather have my nails done at my favorite nail salon as It is one of those little perks in life that I surely have considered to be my ME TIME! At Cindy's salon I wasn't even offered a bottled water! Ha!
DeleteCindy, now I have that song going on in my head. Happy birthday to Kristy, she is beautiful just like her mom. You do a fine job on your nails. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam. I can't believe my first born is 41 years old! Lordy, where has the time gone?
DeleteDown in my heart to stay! I loved singing that song as a child in Sunday School! Happy Birthday to your daughter and what a special cake. You did a pretty good job on your nails. What state are you in? Most stores are still closed and I miss Hobby Lobby. I hope your week is full of JOY!
ReplyDeleteSusan, I am in Florida and they have just began phase one of opening some things. There are several places I want to go too when I can and when they are open. But I seriously need a beach day!
DeleteYour flowers are so pretty. And that cake!!! It looks amazing. Your granddaughter did a great job. BTW, a very happy birthday to her.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much GM. My flowers have done well. I wish I had time to work with them more. I done several transplants this year so trying to get them going now.
DeleteLOLOL Poor Marty!!!! Gettin' picked on like that (rolling giggles and smiles).
ReplyDeleteWow does that cake ever look so good, smiles. Happy Birthday!!!!
LOL! Our girl done a good job on that cake for her mama. Her strawberry chocolate cake has officially been requested now.
DeleteOoh that cake looked amazing! You did a great job on those nails! I've been keeping mine unpainted to give them a break lately. I'm hoping they'll get healthier! I would love a pedi right about now!
ReplyDeleteGirl, we do what we gotta do don't we? I much rather get my nails done by my nail salon I can tell you. LOL!
DeleteThe cake looks wonderful, Happy Birthday to your daughter! I don't often paint my nails and it never seems to last more than a few days...I'd much rather paint something else :)
ReplyDeleteJenna
Jenna, If I could paint like you, girl, I would paint everything and everyone around me! Ha!
DeleteI love your nails from "Cindy's Nail Salon". Kris's Nail Salon is not that good lol! That cake oh my yummy. Joy is such a great word and we should all try to find joy each day. Even with Crazy all around us sometimes it is good to look at the simpler parts of life and find joy and love and peace in our days. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Honestly, I have enjoyed the simpler parts of life. There is always something to be thankful for even in the midst of CRAZY.
DeleteNow you got me humming it, too! LOL! Aw, now isn't that just the sweetest thing for that dear grandgirl to bake and decorate her Mama a birthday cake? I wonder who she takes that after? Hmm....maybe her sweet Nana? Happy birthday to your daughter, and yes, isn't it something how men get older all by themselves? LOL! But, truly you really don't look a day older, sweet friend. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face and helping me choose joy today!
ReplyDeleteChoosing Joy can surely be tough at times but knowing where our true joy comes from makes the difference. Grandgirl done good with her pretty cake.
DeleteOh, I remember singing that little song in church... many... many years ago! 😊 That cake looks delicious... I believe your grand girl took after you! Your nails look beautiful... I so wish I had pretty nails. I ruined mine using glue ons and they've never recovered. You're such a great Nana... and Marty looks mighty happy with all the girls around. Love you, sweet Friend! 💜
ReplyDeleteAwe girl, I have worn about every kind of nail over the years...well, they are constantly coming out with new stuff so I guess I haven't worn everything. Though I don't do as good of a job as a nail tech does I did learn years ago how to do my own nails and I keep stuff on hand just in case. Well, the just in case came. LOL! I usually have a thin layer of acrylic put over my own nails but because of it, it sure has made my nails thin. I don't like doing my own nails either! Thanks Deb.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful firstborn! Too bad thst Marty is getting older!! Lol!! The cake made by your granddaughter is simply stunning !! She is an awesome baker, Cindy, and must take after you. Choosing JOY is the best choice to make. Love and blessings to you, sweet friend. 😘
ReplyDeleteThanks Kitty. Yep when I told Marty that he just simply said, "Kristy's getting older". LOL!
DeleteHappy Birthday to the birthday gal! That cake is swoon worthy.
ReplyDeleteYour nails look beautiful. Good technician. (I feel the same way about a pedi appt.)
Thank you Vee and so glad to hear from you. I am really wanting a pedi. Guess I am going to try and talk Marty into that this weekend. LOL! Or maybe I can bribe one of the grandgirls.....Sounds like a plan.
DeleteI LOVE that little song. I can remember singing that in Sunday School as a child, and I loved how the teacher would always cup her hand around her ear when she said "Where?" And we would shout out our answer "Down in my heart!" That just brought back such happy memories. I love that you had a wonderful birthday party for your beautiful daughter. And that cake is amazing!!! Wow! Your granddaughter is quite talented. (Like her grandmother). And your manicure looks fantastic. Wish you could come do mine. I do not have very nice nails and I rarely ever paint them. It just doesn't stay long. I like to play in the dirt too much. LOL. Yes, today and every day I choose JOY! Where? Down in my heart to stay!!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandgirl's cake would surely win first prize. Pam, my nails would have been strong and healthy but from many years of having my nails done with acrylic I am afraid they have become weak. But I am going to admit, I do love pretty nails. And I hate doing my own so you just let my gal that does my nails get back in business! LOL! I will probably be sitting at the door!

ReplyDeleteHappy bday and what a beautiful CAKE. But your cakes always look great. YUMMY. I looked at my toe nails, I don't have pretty long finger nails so I never paint them to draw attention....but looking at the toes I realized that a couple of them was missing the polish. HAHA....I think after three weeks and shower pressure hitting them they just could not hold up. So, last night they got cleaned up and a nice coat of a pale pink added. I love the dark colors but I stopped using them cause they tend to stain my nails and I have a hard time getting it all off. Anyway, I dry to use my older polish, before drying up in craft projects. HAPPY DAY....
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam. I gravitate towards RED...my favorite color. But in summer months especially I try to go with different colors and my favorite is Cajun Shrimp. But I did have some pretty blue toe nails once and looked like an Easter egg. LOL! Grandgirl's loved it though.
DeleteWow, what a beautiful cake and your first born is gorgeous. Pretty nails complete the package.Hugs and blessings.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
DeleteI think I'll follow your lead and paint my fingernails today! That would give me a lift! Oh and I need to trim my bangs again! lol Love the family photo! She really is beautiful....just like her mother! The cake is really a work of art! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks sweet lady and yes, paint your nails...always makes me feel better. Well, and a pedi! LOL!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your first born! I had to chuckle over the fact that her Daddy is getting older.
ReplyDeleteReminded me of how my Mom would say she had such an old daughter...naturally only I was aging!
Pretty cake and nails too.
Happy Mother's Day!
Jemma
Thank you Jemma.
DeleteWish I had a piece of Christy's birthday cake. It looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteYour nails look great, Cindy! Yesterday, I clipped mine in the car and honestly I cut them almost in the quick so I have no nails.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!
Thanks Bonnie. That girl made some home brownies today!
DeleteOh- I sang that song so many times when I was young and so did my kids! That birthday cake looks amazing. I have a grandgirl baker in my family, too. What a blessing! (or curse weight wise). lol
ReplyDeleteLOL- Sorry Pops is getting older.
I hope you have had a blessed Mother's Day- xo Diana
