{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Far Out, Peace, Groovy Baby}

 Our Conner Family had our annual Halloween/Fall Party and as always it was so much fun. Marty and I decided this year to Be GROOVY. I wasn't sure if I could out do FLO from last year.

I honestly had so much fun dressing up from an era of time that I remember all too well. Great songs from the 70's, lots of dancing, love beads and well, PEACE OUT

Marty is such a good sport and it doesn't take much for him to want to have fun, especially when it involves the family.

It's so much fun dressing up with my girls. They make life so fun and never a dull or boring moment for sure.

One of my granddaughter's decided to be a hippie with Nana. She will be 13 in November and growing up too quickly.

My oldest granddaughter was a pirate and I might add a beautiful one at that.

We surely had lots of different characters covered in dress up attire.

We do this fun event at my Fatherinlove's home each year. We have all sorts of goodies to eat. We try to change it up each year with the main food course so this year we had taco's, taco salads with all the fixings and dessert and candy galore. We do a fishing pond with prizes, games, dancing, and well, needless to say by the time I got home I was ready for my favorite chair!

My FIL with some of his great-grands. He moves faster than most of us. He even got out there and danced a little too. LOL!

Such a fun time and there is nothing like family. You know, here's the thing. These family traditions don't happen by accident. It takes time, a little money, a little work, and lots of effort. Oh yes, its fun for the little ones and just to see the looks on their faces while they are having fun is priceless. BUT, it's a time of fellowship for all.  Times change...life has a way of changing, some things just can't be helped or controlled, but, my prayer is that FAMILY will always remember FAMILY.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember....

  2. That is so great! I love how your family all comes together and knows how to really have a good time! It's great that you are close together so you can do these things. Loved all the cute costumes, and you and your sweet guy made great hippies! You make me want to come join your family! Do you have any single girls left? I still have one single son! LOL. But he's 43 and I don't know if he'll ever get married...says he's waiting to earn enough money to be able to afford a wife. Well...I told him that will never happen so you might as well find a good young lady and enjoy life before it's too late. But God knows what is best and I stay out of it...Anyway, thank you for these great pictures of a wonderful family gathering! What a blessing to see this in these days of so many families staying apart.

    1. LOL! All my girls are married. No I am afraid if we wait to have enough money to do a lot of things in life we will never will. God's timing... We have a great time with the family. Yep, so many families can't do these family things together because of one reason or another. But giving the God the praise that we can. I am sure things will change one day with older generations.

  5. Oh, my goodness! You and Marty are just adorable - and so authentic looking! It is so neat that you all are not allowing covid to dominate your lives. It did my heart good to see all the photos of so much family and fun and no one social distancing. I am so weary of the way it is controlling so many people, keeping them apart, and causing deep rifts in families. It is wonderful that you all live fearlessly and go on with your lives full speed ahead. The costumes were all just amazing. What a fun, uplifting post to find in our inbox today!

    1. Awe thanks Cheryl for your sweet words. Cheryl, I've truly tried to be careful in the different areas of life with COVID and trying to really be respectful of others feelings in which I have learned that some aren't. But I have also tried to not allow FEAR to put me in a pit and Satan almost done that! So, I am moving forward with much respect, being careful, and girl...washing my hands! Which, I always have so that was nothing new! We sure enjoy our parties and the kids surely had a great time. Happy Week to you!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
