{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Lemons Anyone?}

I hope that you all are having a great day and that your week ahead of you will be blessed. I have taken a little time this weekend away from baking cakes and decided to throw together a little vignette for my corner chair.

I have so enjoyed my little corner chair and decorating it for different seasons and holidays. That old chair needs a fresh coat of paint but for now, she will just have to do.

Lemons became my inspiration as I love anything with lemon. Lemonade, lemon pound cake, lemon pie, lemon cookies...and well, lemons became the theme for a tablescape as well.

I've had the hobnail tea pitcher for a long time and have used it on many occasions. She looks quite adorable with a few daisy's and lemons surrounding her don't you think?

The small white bowls holding the lemons belonged to my grandmother. I love using the things that was given to me from loved ones.  The salad plates are my newest purchase. Found them marked down to $3 for four at Bealls Outlet and wouldn't you know it....they only had two sets left and that's exactly what I needed. I took that to be a sign that YES, I needed to buy them! LOL!

It might be just a simple little tablescape but it's begging for a glass of lemonade...

Aren't these pieces of china just pretty? A friend of one of my daughter's was giving this away and of course my daughter said, "My Mom would love it". She was so right.

This cute set is going on my Baker's Rack on my front porch. WHY the front porch? Well, I just want to look at it every time I go to the front porch to sit a spell. YEP, it's the simple  things in life that bring me the greatest pleasure.

Our oldest daughter Kristy will be celebrating a birthday tomorrow. We are so proud of the godly woman that she is. She is truly a roll model for many women. We will celebrate her birthday next weekend with a family cookout.

I hope that you all have a great week and that you find yourself blessed more than you could have imagined by the Lord.
And...have a glass of lemonade while you are counting your blessings.

  1. I love all things lemon! And, I usually pull out all my lemon decor after Easter but I haven't done much seasonal decorating this past year. I love all my usual decor and just fell off the wagon. Guess that might be a sign of aging. Yikes!!!! Have a great week Cindy.

  2. Oh, those lemons look so pretty and fresh and clean! I love lemons and lemon scent! And your flowers and the pretty hobnail pitcher is gorgeous. I love those salad plates. Beall's Outlet has some neat stuff! You got a deal, girl!! And that set of china on your front porch? Now THAT's beautiful stuff! Such a pretty pattern! Noritake is expensive china too! Wow! What a gift!! Happy Birthday to your lovely daughter Kristy! You have such lovely daughters, all who reflect the love of Jesus and also the beauty of having had such a lovely mother and handsome and godly father. What a blessing! Oh, I see that glass juicer on the corner chair! That's like the one I got at the flea market not long ago! It looks so pretty with the yellow lemons! You are a clever and stylish lady, and I enjoy seeing what you come up with each month! Thank you for sharing this with us. It is an inspiration in so many ways! I thank Jesus for YOU.

  4. Everything looks just lovely....and sooo SPRING:) My son loves all things lemon too...reminds me I might need to make him his favorite lemon pound cake soon. I love the idea of your little chair. I have a tiered tray that I try to decorate to bring in different holidays and occasions but I really like the chair idea:) Now to find me a cute chair!!! I am itching to do some redecorating but am at a loss of what to do. Money will be spent soon to redo our deck (cha-ching) so any decorating I do will have to be on a s-l-i-m budget!!! But you sure have given me some inspiration and when life slows down a little maybe I'll have time to come up with some ideas. Happy Birthday to your sweet daughter. My g'daughter has a birthday in a few days, then DIL two days after that. Along with Mother's Day for both our mothers and graduation and end-of-school....it's a busy, busy month! God bless you.

    The cheery yellow lemons in your decor is just what I needed to see on this gloomy, rainy day. The Noritake tea set is lovely! I'm sure your daughter's friend was glad to see it go to a good home.

    Your table setting looks wonderful and I'm inspired by the idea you had of putting your lovely new set of dishes on the porch. I think I'll steal that idea ( I hope you'll forgive me).

Happy bday to your daughter. Franklin NC., been there several times. I would go with my sis in law up to visit her parents there. I will have to write a blog on that and hit you up to read it...

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
