{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

It's already February!

 Good Sunday Afternoon Everyone. I hope your week and weekend has been good to you. We are having some fire place weather in my neck of the woods.

These three little girls enjoyed the roaring fire with hot cocoa today. They have a gas fire place in their homes so they had fun helping papa gather up some wood to build a fire. It sure doesn't take much to entertain the littles in the country.

I have been waiting for a little over a year now for the Taxidermy to have my trophy buck ready and Marty picked him up this week. I was so excited and needless to say that sweet boy is hanging on my wall in my living room.

That was a Buck of a lifetime for me. Not sure I will ever forget the excitement of that hunt...or showing the guys up! LOL!

Our county has opened up a new little place called Southern Blend Baker and I had to try out the chicken salad that several of my friends raved about. It was delicious! The atmosphere is so nice. The first thing I noticed was Christian music playing. The ladies that work there are so friendly and kind and their menu looked reasonably priced. I will be visiting again.

Made a new cake recipe for Sunday dinner. Vanilla Bundt cake with cream cheese frosting and chocolate morsels sprinkled on top. I think there may be one slice left.....Apparently it made the list of GOOD.

Y'all, if you like pickles and you like cheese this is such a good little keto snack. I saw the idea on Pinterest and tried it...YUMMY and so dang easy. Spray your muffin tin lightly with Pam. Put a little cheese in the tin. Slice a dill pickle and add about two or three slices on top of the cheese. Top with more cheese. I added a tad of salt and Italian seasoning on top. Bake in preheated oven @ 400 degrees for about 12 minutes. Let cool and dip in your favorite sauce. SO GOOD!

I have had a productive week and finally caught up with some much needed decluttering that I needed to do at home. So, decided to venture out a little and do a few fun things for ME. I done a little shopping, yoga class and treated myself to an iced coffee. It was nice to get out a little and very relaxing.

I shared with you all that I have decided to do a Focus Board for each month.  I am very much a visual person so I am enjoying reading my Focus board every day. Such a great reminder of what I truly need to focus on.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember, take some time from DECLUTTERING your life...whatever that may be for you, and enjoy your life. 💗 I am beginning to find my groove in this thing called retirement! I think it's gonna look good on me. LOL!

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. I am so happy that you are enjoying your retirement already. I love your "focus board"...that's a great idea!! And I loved seeing the little girls in front of the fireplace, in their bare feet! Oh My! My feet are always cold these days, so that made my feet cold looking at those little bare feet, but I know they are cozy and warm in front of that beautiful fire! And they are so blessed to be with their Nana and Papa. Oh, decluttering...where would I begin? It is so overdue. My closet would be a good place to start...maybe when I really and truly feel better...LOL. excuses excuses! I enjoyed your post so much. Thank you for brightening this dreary day!

  2. I love the littles by the roaring fire. I miss having a wood burning fireplace. We have a gas one but it is not the same.
    Congrats on bagging that buck!

    1. Thanks Diana. That sweet boy was surely a trophy for me! We almost changed out to a gas fireplace a few years ago but then we decided not for now. Marty loves a real wood burning fire and as long as we can keep the smell down so it doesn't affect my allergy I am good with it too. We figure when we get to a point where chopping, sawing, and etc. the wood becomes a problem then we will switch to gas. But girl...I love those little fire logs you buy. SIMPLE and I can use those with a breeze. LOL!

  5. Hi Cindy, I wrote out a long post only for it to disappear because of keyboard error. I like your focus board and may need to try it out. Good way to memorize scripture. Psalm 23 is one of my favorites and I wrote about it at my blog. It will be in the 80's this week and I plan to sit outside. I am doing a "clean out" today for my procedure tomorrow. Say a little prayer for me. Thanks!

  13. Your buck is amazing! I remember that exciting event! How wonderful to have him hanging on your wall now! I miss our wood stove, there is no heat like it. We use propane now for our heat, and it works really well too, but still, nothing like wood heat. Those pickle chips look really good, and awesome to be a keto snack too! Must try :) Glad you are enjoying your retirement!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
