{Hello friends}

  Hoping this finds my sister bloggers doing well on this windy Sunday afternoon. Yep, we've got a little wind howling around here and a tad cool but I am enjoying a lazy afternoon. My Sunday lunch crowd (my family) have left for the day so I am kicked back. Sunday menu today consisted of: Chicken and dressing Giblet gravy Italian green beans with ham Mac & Cheese Homemade chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache.  Yep, they are little spoiled at Nana's house. I am not a huge fan of cakes with icing but it must have been good as one of the grands had two slices.  These gals and I have been friends for more years than I remember and since we've all retired within a few months apart in retirement and age (dating back to 4th grade in school) we try to get together once every 4-6 weeks. We always do something extra for our birthdays but was a tad late celebrating mine this year together due to other appointments that was a must. We always have a gr...

{WHERE DID OCTOBER GO?}

  Good Sunday afternoon y'all. Where in the world has the month of October went too? My girls and I just said today that it seems that Christmas is knocking on the door already. Whew! But I will tell you a secret.....I've already been listening to a little Christmas music! LOL! I was creating a Christmas music playlist and the next thing I knew I was singing Christmas carols!  Marty and I managed to get away to do a little hunting in those Georgia Pines and I never tire of seeing the cotton fields. I will miss seeing those beautiful puffs of white cotton when it's harvested. There is just something about sitting in a tree stand and enjoying nothing but nature and God.  The trip paid off as Marty was able to harvest several deer and his dad came to help us process as we like to process our own meat if possible.  I did get a little time on the mats last week and made my instructor some homemade chicken noodle soup. I loves soups all year round. I am ready for a pot of ...

{A Mountain Birthday Celebration}

Good Sunday afternoon! Well, it seems I am only posting about every two weeks. Not sure if I am just that busy doing other things or if it's just the season I am in y'all. However, I made it today.  The birthday boy just celebrated his special day on October 10th. We spent a week in the mountains. Between Charlotte, SC and North Carolina we saw all the beautiful leaves changing colors. Pictures do not remotely express the beauty that God has created.  We arrived about the time they called it "Leaf peeping season ". I can only imagine the beauty there is to see there now.  We stayed in the cutest cabin and had all that we needed and then some. We didn't really want to leave there to go anywhere else honestly.  The weather was lovely. Cool enough in the mornings for a cozy fire and never too hot to break a sweat! YES! We just love cabin style and when the outside is just as interesting as the inside then it's a win-win. The days of olden sat right there on the p...

{October Is Here}

Hello everyone. I am a bit late in trying to get a post out and it seems I've not done too well in this area for over a week or more. I see clearly how time gets away from us.  Speaking of time getting away from us....Marty and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary recently.   Yes, we were "youngins" as my granny would have. High school sweethearts to be exact. We started dating when I was a mere 16 years old. Married at 18, and started birthing babies at age 20.  Many years have passed and our greatest accomplishments are in these pictures. God is surely a good, good, Father.   Well what did we do to celebrate such a milestone in life? We had ourselves a nice little picnic on the backroads in Georgia! Simplicity at it's finest.... I knew these old baskets that I use to decorate with in what we call the "Buck Room" would sure come in handy one day. And...FYI that fig spread was delicious! We are neither "fig" fans but it was gifted to us for ou...
