Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
My usual Sunday post surely didn't happen this week. Lesson for me is: Sometimes, STUFF just happens....LOL!
We've been trying to catch up on projects around our home and as most know my porch has been one of them. We added a welcome sign that would you believe I found under a bed in the guest room (AKA as the Buck Room) It's not exactly what I want but works for now for us. It is a pretty sign though.
Marty and I enjoyed yet another day date. This time though it was on a Saturday as he is not retired yet. We found a cute little Cuban bistro that was quaint and enjoyed a good lunch. A little shopping was on the agenda.
We came home and hung those lovely ferns that Marty so faithfully tends too. Thank the Lord cause I can't even reach them to water them without my step ladder!
We sealed the swing my FIL made and actually sat out on the front porch to enjoy the new ceiling fans. Now to take the stickers off the fern pots! LOL!
Despite the fickle weather we feel we've had our potatoes are coming up beautifully. We planted ten short rows and every single hill of potatoes is coming up. YUM!
And...on my way to join others at my yoga class I enjoyed a fresh fruit drink that I whipped up. Blueberries, strawberries, orange, lemon, kiwi, apple, and pineapple flavored aloe Vera juice. I even had enough to save Marty a smaller cup to enjoy.
I will close with sharing yet another wonderful devotional, powerful and a truly an AMEN one for me. I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember...If you are still drawing a breath...God surely isn't through with you. 💖
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Hi Cindy, I just love your porch! You must live on a few acres of property. I live in the city and everything is close to each other. I am a country girl in heart living in the city. So I look to all the positive things and thank God for that! Funny how busy we are and being retired makes no difference! Your fruit drink looks so yummy! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan. Not sure what part of retirement I missed! LOL! We always find something to keep ourselves busy don't we? Too much at times.
DeleteThe porch is coming along beautifully! I can just imagine you enjoying a cup of hot tea or glass of iced tea on the swing!
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, I got my small backyard deck rebuilt and the contractors left the (price?) stickers on the wood.LOL.
Marty took the stickers off the pots. I told him to leave them on because I needed to reminded how much those things cost!!!
DeleteHow wonderful to find the Welcome sign right at home! Your ferns are so pretty on your porch and I can just picture you and Marty swinging on that handmade swing. The aloe Vera drink looks so tasty. You are so adventurous with your healthy drinks, Cindy. Thank you for sharing your powerful devotional with us. We all need those beautiful reminders. Have a wonderful week! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYes Kitty. We had a good laugh about the welcome sign. I might need to start cleaning out other places in the house. Maybe I will find some cash I hid from myself!
DeleteThe porch is looking great, love the Boston Ferns. Mr D has been doing a lot spring cleaning and rearranging around our place. Happy Spring sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Miss Mary. Happy Spring to you and Mr. D.
DeleteYou got all your lovely ferns bought , brought home, and hung up!! They look super nice.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great devotional again. So true. GM
Thanks GM. Marty loves those ferns but I was told today about another fern that is easier to care for but can get quite massive. I am going to check on those for next year to maybe put some out by my pond.
DeleteGood morning, Cindy! Those ferns are beautiful on your porch. There is something so peaceful about a porch swing. Wishing you a joy-filled week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam. Yes, we have always had a swing on the front porch. This one is just a little more special since Papa Conner build it.
DeleteWonderful ferns looking fantastic on your front porch. How nice to get out with your Beloved.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Vee.
DeleteI just love your porch swing and your ferns and your porch in general...and that welcome sign is beautiful! Looks like such a welcoming place to sit and enjoy the coolness of the morning before the sun gets too hot for the day...and how nice to have those fans too! I am trying to find more time to sit on our porch, but it has to be in the mornings or late evenings because the afternoon sun makes it too hot to sit out there. But you have inspired me to get it cleaned up and try to make myself get out there and enjoy it more! Have a blessed and wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteIt's a job to keep it clean for sure. But, I have decided not to kill myself trying to keep it cleaned. I do what I can and what I can't at the moment I don't. Amazing how getting a little older put life chores in different perspectives. LOL!
DeleteYour porch is such a lovely place to relax and enjoy, the ferns look so pretty!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Thanks Jenna.
DeleteSo nice to "shop" from your own home, love the welcome sign! Your porch looks so beautiful with the ferns, a blessing Marty cares for them! Your swing is gorgeous that your FIL made, wow! And always so fun to have day dates, my husband and I enjoy that too! So thankful for the presence of the Lord always with us! Beautiful devotion, hugs to you dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marilyn. My three youngest grands will be here Friday so I see a tea party in store on the front porch.
DeleteLove your porch! So nice and comfy looking. I grow the best ferns, nice and brown ferns! They do not do well in my hands. Date Day, that is nice. I love the Welcome sign.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam. YEPPER, good thing Marty tending to our ferns! LOL!
DeleteBeautiful post, Cindy. I LUV!!!!!!!! your front porch, the fans, the seating, the ferns-- it's all so beautiful and homey!
ReplyDeleteThank you friend.
DeleteI just love your porch! So many ferns! I buy a few and love the color they bring to the porch and deck--and easy care! I don't have a Marty to tend mine though. :) That fruit drink looked so refreshing! Day dates are the best! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather Lou.
