Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
I hear women say a lot of times when asked about serving in various areas of the church or just simply serving at all, "I can't think of anything I am really good at".
The Truth is according to 1 Corinthians 12:7 (MSG) Each person is given something to do that shows who God is.
The Lord gives assignments to people and to each according to one's unique abilities. As the Lord calls us He also equips us.
The Spirit of Christ has given to each christian a special way of serving others.
You may be the behind the scenes type of person and you know what? That's great...God needs behind the scenes people.
You may can bake really well! Praise the Lord! He needs bakers!
You may can organize well. Well thank you Jesus because a lot of folks have no clue about organizational skills! He needs you!
You may have the gift of being laid back and going with the flow type of spirit. Well see here, God needs you for people like me that are Hyper!
You may have a knack for decorating. He needs you!
You may do well with simply making phone calls to others for outreach purposes. GET ON THE PHONE!
The list can go on and on and on can't it? If we are born again Christians we cannot continue to use the line: NOT BEING ABLE TO SERVE BECAUSE WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING!
That is a lie straight from Satan! Why not keep you from serving? If He can keep you thinking that you have no gifts or talents then he has pretty much won hasn't he? Satan loves to keep us
(SELF-DEPRECATING) Ladies, we need to get over this. Who are we going to believe? Satan or God?
And then there is the opposite! It kind of goes like this: "I can't get involved in that ministry because I wind up doing it all!
Now...let's take the paper off the candy girls and be honest.
And I can do this because I've said it! So I am just being honest and real with you!
WE DON'T HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING! WE ARE NOT GOD'S SOLUTION TO SOCIETY! WE ARE A SOLUTION IN SOCIETY! Read that again real slow!
According to the Word of God our goal is to stay within the boundaries of God's plan for us. Read: 2 Cor. 10:13.
We need to clarify what our contribution is for the service of the Lord.
So let's quit believing the lies of Satan and ask God this question. "What can I do to serve you? Where, what and how? I promise if you do that with a sincere heart that He will show you.
I love what Jeremiah 33:3 says...one of my favorite scriptures:
"Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you did not know".! WOW! What a promise!

Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Wonderful message Cindy, thanks for the reminder that we are ALL called to do God's work. Some of us quietly lighting the shadows and others boldly, leading, teaching and guiding! {{hugs}}

ReplyDeleteI'm such an introvert...I know that's hard to believe...but it's true!!! That's why I write my blog...I can "talk" about HIM without having to look anyone in the face!!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLike the pictures you have used to illustrate your points :-)
ReplyDeleteI dont have to be GOOD at doing anything, the Good is in the Doing itself.

Good post Miss Cindy!

And sometimes He changes our 'assignments' mid-stream! We never know what He will need us to do - and call us to do. He knows us so well and He knows where we can touch others best.

This is great, I never thought of my laid back personality as a gift but your right the laid back person can be a great "leveler" with the more "hyper" personality. God has given us all gifts, we all have them and there is always opportunity to use them
ReplyDeleteWell Miss Cindy, looks like you hit the nail on the head with this one! Thanks. Connie Royals
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful post, Cindy! I know we all have gifts to serve our Lord. I used to not be able to say no! I've served so much in church and at this stage of my life, it's like God has put me in a position to rest a bit and get filled up again. I'm loving this!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie and can't wait to see your corny!
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This is a great message, Cindy. I have been at both ends of this and everywhere in between. Honestly right now, I'm not serving as I should be so am claiming the verse in Jerimiah and asking God where he wants me to be. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteAMEN AMEN AMEN!! I actually taught a Sunday School lesson just last week on that topic.
ReplyDeleteIt is just as wrong to think we have no calling as it is to think the calling is all about us.
It's not. It's about Him. If he gave us a passion, we can and should use it to the building of the body and the glory of God.
Wonderful post!
Missing you! HOPE you're feeling better!! Love 'ya!!!
ReplyDeleteOh' Cindy a better message couldn't have come to me. I may have come here to visit but it's because you sweetly stopped by and lead me here. Thank you. As the devil tells us these lies, I'm thankful for you doing just what God leads you to do - share with us that He is beside us every step. Why is it that those lies Satin tells us, are so easy to accept and the good things our Father and others tell us is so hard for us to accept. Thanks for visit me. I love you and think of you so much.
