{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? Easter has come and gone but we sure have a great time with family. We gather each...

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD-OVERWHELMED

 Just daily life can overwhelm us at times can't it? We get to the end of our day and look at our 10 pages of to-do list and we think to ourselves "Will CALGONE really take me away?".

Remember that commercial?
Just purchase a box of Calgone and sprinkle it in your bath water and it will take all your cares and worries away!

Every time I would think about this picture of this beautiful woman just soaking in a tub of bubbles, her makeup perfect and looking like she was on top of the world I just wanted to dunk her under that water!

Sometimes I am afraid it takes a little more than Calgone to take away the daily stresses of life.

Sometimes we put stress on ourselves by adding things to our list simply because we are people pleasers! We can't or we haven't learned to say NO!  Tip:  Did you know that according to most health-related physicians that sometimes (not all the time) a depressed state of mind is because we try to please everyone in our life but ourselves.

A lot of times it is that we simply need to reevaluate and prioritize! There are some things in our lives that we cannot possibly do any differently. That is just the facts of life! But so many times in my own personal life when I find myself becoming too overwhelmed that is when I have to take a back seat to saying YES to certain things and saying NO when it needs to be said! I have to slow down and remind myself that there is only one of me, though there have been times I do wish I could have been cloned!

Sometimes my issue at hand is simply putting priority where it needs to be and it always begins with the Lord of my life!  The times in my life when I find myself being overwhelmed the most as a Christian is when I am so busy being busy that I lack in my one on one relationship with Jesus. That is when I hear His still small voice say,

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD! (Psalm 46:10)

 If only we could realize that our time with Jesus in the Word and through prayer is our priority! Lord help us all to stay  focused on you.

Turn your volume up and praise the Lord today!

Hugs and blessings,
Cindy

  1. I adore that song. A young lady in the church I grew up in used to sing it. I think trying to do to much...multi-task...truly is a "girl thing"!! Thanks for the reminder to slow down and that it's okay to think of "me" sometimes!! Glad to see you back, my friend!

  3. I certainly remember the calgon commercial and can't tell you how many times I wanted to be that lady and just let calgon take me away! In my heart I knew it wasn't calgon that that could de-stress me, it is the one true God who says to me, "take my hand child and I will help you." I love Him.

  4. What great reminders today, Cindy. I've been pondering Psalm 42:1-2, as well. Excellent stuff! And I love Brooke's version of that song. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh Amen to all of this! It is just soo true of us women isn't it? I have notice recently with caring for my mom that there just is not the time there was before. I feel like I did back when my kids were little and have to set the alarm to get up early enough to get my "quiet time" in with the Lord. And boy do I sure notice when I don't. Thanks for the wise words! Enjoy the rest of your day!

  8. I am smiling because this is the second time today I have read "Be still.." I was feeling SO bad that I didn't get my Sunday post ready. Everything in life was pulling at me and I was just exhausted. So I chose to sleep. :)

    God is good!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{March Is Underway}

  Welcome to March! The little grands and I kicked off March with a sleepover at Nana's house. They are so much fun and so energetic. COFFEE has earned my love forever for sure! LOL!  We started out with a sack lunch from Burger King (their favorite) and headed to a cute little park that is only about 2 miles from where I live. The girls has so much fun. The girls put in for Nana to ride the horsey. Well, y'all know I had to show those littles that Nana still can do that!!! Two of the girls wanted to play with the old Halloween wigs but the youngest one opted out. She said it made her head itch. LOL!  We had a tea party for breakfast. Our tea party consisted of smoked sausage, peaches and chocolate chip cookies. Yummy to my tummy the youngest one said! I finally got around to making myself a healthy fruity Icee. I made the girls snow cones out of the same healthy fruits. Guess I needed too so they wouldn't be so hyped up from all the cookies when returning home. Hee-hee!...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
