I hope that you all have enjoyed this beautiful Easter Sunday. He is risen! I wanted to end the month of March in sharing a few of my favorite photos from the month. Celebrated my favorite grandsons birthday. Conner is 18 now! Our beautiful Mallory Grace all decked out for the prom. The youngest grands (sisters) were flower girls in their uncle's wedding. The oldest one was in her element of dress up. The younger one, not so much. THAT HAIR BAND ITCHED HER HEAD she said! I purchased a new pair of wedges that I love. I am always skeptical about ordering shoes or clothing but read the reviews on Amazon and went for it. Love the color and the style. The youngest grand loves to take selfies and play with the filters. Marty colored Easter eggs. He always colors at least a dozen every year. He always says he's doing it for the grands but I know he does it because of the inner child in him! LOL! I went with the little ones to Disney on Ice and we had the best time. I think I enjo
Today I want to share my little craft gift for a dear friend's birthday. First, let me say that she is a Seamstress and only those that love to sew would appreciate such a gift. I wanted to do something different for her birthday than the usual box of candy, bottle of perfume or good book to read. I saw this cute idea on none other than Pinterest but decided to tweak it up a bit to fit her style.
A Memo Board.......LOL! Doesn't look like anything special does it?
Just a cute memo board from Target but enough room that she could place her little memo's on. (Actually she needs a huge one because she stays so busy with her sewing for others)
Then my next item for the agenda was sewing items to place on the board. The idea that I saw showed different colors of thread on spools glued all around the memo board. Loved that idea so I pulled out my sewing stash and a plea to some friends that if they had any items they did not want I would take them. Several friends responded. I began to open my bag and box of goodies from friends and oh I was ever in love with the vintage items I was given!
From that point on I knew I wanted to do vintage as much as possible and I wanted different items...not just thread.
The gift making began......Does anyone remember these? Years ago different companies would give these tidy little packs which held sewing needles inside to their customers. This particular company started in 1940 with their thank you to customers with this handy pack of sewing needles.
The stash of goodies I had encountered was going on the memo board...one by one!
Oh I had so much to pick from...Old buttons and snaps, tons of thread on wooden spools and well, the eye candy was about more than I could take....I LOVE ME SOME VINTAGE TOO!
Loved all the different colors.....and look at the cute little button with the star in the center????
My friend from church, Gail, said that the majority of the items that she gave to me belonged to her mother and that her mother would be proud that someone that treasured sewing would love them.
There was even a snippet of elastic in the mix!
What really made this fun for me to craft up this gift was not only the fact that it was different than the usual birthday gift nor because most every single thing used was vintage. The reason this brought such joy to me was because I know my friend Vicky prays over what she sews! For every person that she makes something for they are covered in prayer. Every stitch that is placed whether by hand or machine is prayed over.
What if we all held true to the Word of God that says, : And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Col. 3:17
WOW! How better would our life be and those around us?

Oh, Cindy! This is adorable and so well thought out for your sewing friend. I sew too so I can see why this is such a treasure. How refreshing knowing she prays over everything she sews. I've been known to do that, but mainly when I'd get in a fix! :)

Awe Cindy, what a sweet gift! I love things that my friends make for me or even the simple things that would not mean anything to anyone else but to me. I think the memo board turned out adorable and I couldn't help but grin as I looked at the wooden spools of thread...brought back memories of my grandmother sewing! Love this thoughtful post today.
