{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? {What's your Legacy going to be}

Sometimes it seems that life is lived backwards! When we are young and have only a limited perspective, we have to make huge decisions of life that will shape the rest of our lives. As we tend to grow older not only do we become wiser but we begin to ponder the thoughts of "If I could do it again". I love talking to people that are older in age....lived a long life and has some mileage under their belts. Oh the things we can learn by simply listening to our elders!

A survey was done with fifty people with age beginning at 85 and the question was asked; "If you could live your life over again, what would you do differently?

Lots of answers came from this question but three answers stood out prominently. 

1: I would reflect more on the lives of others instead of allowing the busyness of my life to dominate me.

2: I would risk more. I would take more chances in life with the things that I thought were impossible.

3: I would do more things that would live on after I am gone from this world. 

I think all of us (that has any amount of mileage on us) thinks about "What we would do different if given the chance to start over". But here is the thing I am learning...if we still have breath in our body then it's not too late. 

Maybe we need to loosen up a bit...
Relax more...Be sillier...eat more ice cream! (that last one sounds good to me) Maybe we need to talk less and listen more...be a "fly by the seat of your pants kinda gal" instead of life being planned out hour by hour. 

As I was thinking about the three most prominent answers given to the question the one answer that spoke to me the loudest was "I would do more things that would live on after I am gone from this world".

A legacy is something one leaves for another...passes down to another. A legacy can be material items and/or money. And...truthfully...everyone can leave something if they choose too. It can be as simple as your great-grandmother's dishes to large sums of money.  But what about leaving a legacy that speaks Jesus to others....

I want to leave....
A legacy of joy in the midst of difficulty
A legacy of receiving and giving grace
A legacy of encouraging and inspiring others
A legacy of giving my time, treasures and energy for the Kingdom work
A legacy of modeling forgiveness
A legacy of unconditional love for my family and friends
A legacy of leading and descipling people to Christ 
A legacy of hearing and doing God's Word
A legacy of doing good unto others
A legacy that says, Keep your HOPE in Christ!

 Here's the thing;
Everyone leaves a legacy whether they plan to or not. Everything we say or do leaves the imprint of our lives on those around us. As long as there is breath in your body, there’s an opportunity to make your legacy count.

It pays to listen to our elders......

    Very thought-provoking post, Cindy. You're right, some of our most important decisions are made when we are almost too young to know the right path. I also think a lot of character building happens when we live through those decisions. Yes, we would all benefit from listening to our elders!! Wise words!!! Blessing to you, my friend!

      Hummm, sounds like the perfect lesson to teach a bunch of women. Know what I mean, sister???? Very thought provoking, asking women what they would have done differently. I love it, AND you!

    This is such an important message for any age. The cry of my heart is to love more radically. Reason being, when we give love away we forget about ourselves and become others oriented. We as human beings cry out for acceptance and love and sometimes those most difficult ones need the most love. I always need to remind myself of this so today, I'm super glad to read your message!

    If I could do life over again I would spend more time playing with and reading to my children and less time worrying about dirty dishes and what others think of me if I'm on the floor playing with my kids. I did that - but I would do more. My sweetheart and I recently attended a Godly Grandparent seminar about leaving a legacy for our grandkids and generations to come. It spoke volumes to us and we are working to build a legacy with each of our eight grands. It's a great opportunity we only have once.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. {March Is Underway}

  Welcome to March! The little grands and I kicked off March with a sleepover at Nana's house. They are so much fun and so energetic. COFFEE has earned my love forever for sure! LOL!  We started out with a sack lunch from Burger King (their favorite) and headed to a cute little park that is only about 2 miles from where I live. The girls has so much fun. The girls put in for Nana to ride the horsey. Well, y'all know I had to show those littles that Nana still can do that!!! Two of the girls wanted to play with the old Halloween wigs but the youngest one opted out. She said it made her head itch. LOL!  We had a tea party for breakfast. Our tea party consisted of smoked sausage, peaches and chocolate chip cookies. Yummy to my tummy the youngest one said! I finally got around to making myself a healthy fruity Icee. I made the girls snow cones out of the same healthy fruits. Guess I needed too so they wouldn't be so hyped up from all the cookies when returning home. Hee-hee!...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day.
