Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
How about a candy bouquet today with a little bling? Mercy, this bouquet almost didn't happen!!! Do you know how hard it was for me to NOT eat that REESE'S? Only because I am a good Nana though.....LOL!
My oldest granddaughter Raygen, who is 12 was trying out for Cheer-leading and I wanted to do a little something for her before she tried out that would be an encouragement to her. WELL what better than some CANDY right?
So I gathered up some goodies for the bouquet.
Bought 4 boxes of candy to make my container to hold the bouquet with.
Hot glued the boxes together to make a square.
Then I cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit and added just a tad of glue so when I pushed it down in the boxes that it would stay without falling out of the bottom.
Took a piece of tissue paper with a couple of toothpicks and stuck it in the Styrofoam.
Hot glued the little sticks onto the back of each candy piece.
Then I started assembling the bouquet by sticking the candy pieces through the tissue paper in the Styrofoam.
I added a couple of packs of gum, popped in some Daisy's and a little bling.
A gift tag......
And there ya go....a cute little candy bouquet. She LOVED it! (and so did her brother)
Her mom (my oldest daughter) wrote a scripture on each of her feet before she went for try-outs. Of course her feet would be covered...but she wanted scripture and scripture she got! Raygen's choice of scripture was Phil. 4:13. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me Strength". My daughter's choice of scripture was Joshua 1:9. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.".
Our sweet Raygen is our newest cheerleader in the family. We are excited for her and what the new year with this journey will bring. We prayed that God's Will would be done regardless of how we felt as her family. Because I am so sure you all know that when your child is disappointed (Or grandchild) then you are too. But....my prayer was also that if our Lord chose to allow her to make this team that she would be a shining light for Him. And that she would bring a ray of sunshine with her kind and humble spirit to others. I do believe that our Lord honors the desires of our heart when our hearts line up with His will.
Our family is looking forward to a new season of Wildcat football in our county! Brings back lots of memories for me.
And just one more picture for today....This sweet girl is almost 9 lbs now! WOW! I think it would be safe to say she is thriving! And have I told y'all that she is so sweet that sugar just drips off of her?
