{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Who says waiting on hair color to process has to be boring?}

HAPPY MONDAY Y'ALL! Yeah, I know, some of us are like..."Where did Friday go?. But, I always try to remember that if we don't have a Monday then there won't be a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or a Sunday! RIGHT? So, let us say, "Praise God for Mondays". So glad I can't hear what some of you might be whispering under your breath right about now. LOL!

I bet one of my homemade peanut butter chocolate chip cookies would make you feel better on a Monday morning. It will ME!

No matter what kind of Monday I may have this picture brings a smile to my face.

 My one-year-old grandgirl eating a piece of corn on the cob and let me tell you, she can tear it up!

So, recently I was having my hair colored a little. OKAY...a LOT.  When you have to ask your beautician what is the natural color of your hair then you know you've been coloring for a long time.....While I was waiting on the processing part I began to flip through magazines.  Out came the cell phone camera. I love looking at pictures that inspire me in some way so wanted to share a few.
 **Note: All the following pictures came from a magazine**

 I bet these are delicious but whether or not they are, this sure is a pretty dish isn't it?

I love everything about this. The plate, charger, napkin and the pretty ribbon.

I can't remember word for word that I read about this tablescape but it was called a "Elvis Presley" tablescape. My first thought was that this would be a great New Year tablescape.

Oh my! Be still my heart! YES, I love this!

Retro has certainly made its way back. I couldn't help but smile as I looked at this table and chairs. I love the colors. I read an article about a year ago that said, "The Farmhouse style kitchen was the most popular but Retro kitchens had indeed made its way back to the scene with even more bolder colors".

This last picture makes me want to "Host a tea party".

I did manage to get my curtains up just so you know....I decided to keep them simple. A little tie back with some gray ribbon and a single rose. I have several different little areas in my room with red roses and I love how the color goes so well with the gray.

I am happy.

 I found this cute mirror at Walmart marked down to $7. I snatched it up for my little room.

  I wanted it a Colonial Red. So, after a couple of coats of spray paint it turned out just like I wanted.

 Haven't decided yet what I am going to use my red planter box for. I spray painted it the same color of red and though you can't see it, on the front it says, ROSE. Thinking of maybe some white roses. Not sure though...

Remember my little planter box I found on clearance at Big Lots? Kitty, did you find you one?

 It turned out really pretty and now sits on my dining room table.

We enjoyed watching the oldest grandchild play volleyball and I must add that she got the winning serve of the game....

 We grilled a few cabbage steaks. My friend Deb from Breathing in Grace sent me a recipe but I changed it up a tad and grilled instead of baked and it was delicious.

Matter of fact we grilled cabbage steaks, asparagus, potatoes, corn, and chicken.

I added a few fresh peppers out of the garden and it worked for me.

And then guess what happened??????????????
MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us be glad and rejoice in it.
Psalm 118:24

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. The little one eating corn on the cob made me smile this morning Cindy. I've enjoyed the pictures. I really like the simple rose on the curtains. I think it's just enough especially since you have other roses in your room. Have you named your room yet? LOL! I think the mirror turned out pretty in the red. I might need to try out the cabbage steaks.

Your room is turning out soooo pretty, Cindy, and I love the red and gray together (scarlet and gray, which is my college alma mater's colors!). Actually Cinyd, I was wanting the tray that you found at Big Lots, and I never got there to find it. I will have to try those cabbage steaks for sure. 1. Kitty, I couldn't remember if it was tray or planter box. That youngest grandgirl loves her some corn on the cob. But that girl loves to eat. And she is not a picky eater either. We like watching her! LOL!

    1. Lol! No news on another grand! I think Marti Leigh will have us another baby but not sure when that might be. Of course Adalynn just turned one. GIRL, I am not getting thin by any means! I literally laughed out loud! I am just trying to eat better and healthier. You know Marty has been eating healthy for several years. It's a shame it takes health issues to make us realize that we should have been doing things different years ago. I try to walk some and work out a tad....and I mean a tad...at home! Girl, you know I'm gonna have me some fried meat at least once a week! LOL! I'll send you a private message when I get a minute. But thank you!

  17. Cindy you have to be the multitasking Queen. Why you cannot relax even when your hair is being done. I love that retro kitchen, in fact I think I had a set like that back in the day. Of course I wasn't a DIYer back then so I didn't know what to do with it. Thanks for another pretty picture of the grandbaby! I'm going to virtually adopt her till my kids decide to bless me with one of my own.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
