{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{A Little Fall Y'all}

Even with temps that will be rising to 84 degrees today I am "MAKING" myself say, "There's no place like Fall, there's no place like Fall".

Oh the smell of pumpkin spice has me wanting to make myself a pumpkin pie and eat the whole thing by myself! I have one daughter that loves pumpkin pie as much as me so I would have to share with her...
I GUESS!

I've already had several pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice tea, and yes, a pumpkin muffin with nuts.

I found a recipe I am wanting to try and it's called Pumpkin Bread with a Caramel Glaze. Is that CRAZY or what?I love ANYTHING with Caramel. Dang, I will just lick it off my fingers.

OOH, I wonder if I added some chocolate chips to the pumpkin flavored batter if that might be good too?

Yeah, I think I am having a craving for something sweet today.

Have you decorated yet for Fall? Are you the more traditional Orange Fall kind of gal or do you like to use different colors?

What special activities do you do in the Fall?

I always decorate my kitchen for Fall whether anything else is decorated or not. Guess that is where I spend the most time at huh?

Last year I added a little Fall to my living room and a wreath to my front door. A few years ago I decked out my front porch with fall but I have not had the time this season to do that.

I've noticed that now it takes me all day to do what it used to take me 3 hours to do! Anyone else feeling me here?

It seems that this time of the year throughout the end of December is so very busy for everyone. Of course as a friend reminded recently, "Everyone is busy all the time but we all take the time to do what is really important to us". That my friends is so very true.

In light of what happened in Vegas may we simply be THANKFUL for each day the Lord gives us.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and enjoy the FALL...even if your temps are HOT.

  2. If we can't have fall outside, we just have fall on the inside!! Yep, everthing fall at my house until you step outside...that's okay, when you live in the south that's just the way it is. Your fall 'goodies' are so pretty, love that tablesetting, I'll be right over for some lunch and pumpkin spice coffee!!

  3. Cindy, love the table setting. Such rich and bold colors. I have managed to put out a scarecrow, a few pumpkins and some mums on my front porch. I did put out a pumpkin cookie jar in the kitchen. That's about all I will probably do this year. I am with you on "taking all day to do something". Maybe that's why I don't have out a lot for seasons these days. LOL! I am not a fan of eating anything with pumpkin but I do love apples.

  7. Love your Fall decor, Cindy! That little acorn teapot is darling. I decorate with Fall colors, and use my old decorations. I guess I'm not into all the new stuff.
    I would love to have a cup of tea with you, but I'm waiting until you make that pumpkin bread with the caramel glaze!!
    Yes, such tragedies in this world, aren't there? I guess that makes the comfort of our homes even more special. One never knows. Love and blessings to you, sweet friend.

I keep dragging out the old and I keep saying I am going to get new stuff! LOL! Yes, I do want to try that bread with the caramel glaze. I know it will be good. I just have to stay home long enough to make it. LOL!

  8. Now, that Pumpkin Bread with a Caramel Glaze sounds plum sinful! I am going to make some Pumpkin Bread soon and I always add walnuts to mine. I do have touches of fall in the living areas of our house and will add some pilgrims to the mix in Nov. and then before I turn around, it will be time for C'mas to go up. Happy week!

It's cooled down a bit here,so go ahead and make your reservations for Wears Valley maybe the end of October or first of November! 😊 I love how you decorate... and I'm right there with you when it comes to pumpkin spice... and caramel! Prayers for Vegas and all of America... we need to turn back to Jesus and I believe He's giving us a wake up call. 😞 Love you, sweet Friend!

  19. Oh, Cindy, you are making me want pumpkin everything! The only pumpkin I have had was a pumpkin yougurt and that doesn't count. Yes, I probably could eat the whole pie myself, too. I am taking longer to do things now, also. My to do lists don't get as much marker off in a day now!
    Love your fall tablescape and your fall decorative touches you shared. I bought a few pumpkins this weekend and plan to get my other fall decor out this week. We have been out of town and it just hasn't gotten done. I spent most of the day in the garden working today. It was too glorious to stay inside and there was so much to do I didn't finish but glad I worked. I did accomplish some things I had been putting off.
    I love your blue and white canisters! So pretty.

I doubt I do any more fall except I do plan to get a fall wreath on my front door. About the time we get it all up and done then it's time for Christmas. I have enjoyed the pictures of your garden. I do not know how you hold out to keep all that beauty up!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
