{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Tea Party Anyone?}

Tea Time can be any time, anywhere, and with anyone. Right?

First things first though and it was a field trip to the fair with this sweet grandgirl.

Needless to say she had a ball.

To see through the eyes of a child with excitement is nothing short of a miracle that God allows us.

After the field trip I carried her to lunch which she could pick anywhere she wanted to go. Burger King is was.
Of course we watched a couple of cartoons at home and then it was time for a LOW TEA

To the grands play room we went and our tea party began.

I must share with you my Kyleigh's take on raspberry hot tea (warm for her). She sipped on it just a bit as she ate her shortbread cookie. I knew by her facial expressions that THIS was not her favorite so I said "Ky, you don't like the Raspberry tea?". She shook her little head no and said "Nana, I love the tea cup though but I would rather have a coke!"
Well, she didn't get a coke but she did get some good old fashion sweet tea, COLD. LOL!

Our next adventure was playing kickball in which she kicked the ball in the fishing pond.  Yes, we are well rounded women in my family. We can have a tea party one minute and play kick ball the next! Herb picking was next. I had an abundance of Oregano that needed harvesting so she picked and washed.

You know, one really doesn't have to spend a fortune, or have the nicest things, or even decorate with the finest to make memories that will last a lifetime. All it takes is LOVE.

Stay tuned as I will be sharing the Pumpkin Bread with caramel sauce that I talked about making last week. YES, I did add some chocolate chips. Let's just say that I had my own TEA PARTY

I hope that you all have a great week and remember, "Today is the day that the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it".
Psalm 118:24

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Adorable pictures Cindy. I know she enjoyed every moment of her day with you. Love her little boots. You know I don't care too much for hot tea either so I am with her. Give me a coke or sweet tea. I did manage to decorate my breakfast bar. Sending you pics by email.

  2. You? Caramel? Never! See, I remembered that about you and every time I walk down the aisle at Walmart where the Nonnie's salted caramel biscotti are, I always think of you! Now caramel sauce on pumpkin bread has GOT to be the bomb-diggity! What a sweet time that little tea party was for you both. I will drink Kyleigh's raspberry tea...it is one of my faves. :D

    1. You know me well my friend! Girl that was the best pumpkin bread ever I made with the caramel sauce. Can't wait to share the recipe with you. I love raspberry tea too. Actually, I used the last bag of raspberry that you gave to me for Kyleigh that day.

  4. Kyleigh is adorable, Cindy! Love her cowgirl boots! How polite she was ,not to say she didn't like the raspberry tea but when asked said she really loved the tea cup. That is precious.
    Your tea set is beautiful! What fun it was to have a day of being together at the fair, your tea party and then kickball.
    Now, your pumpkin bread with caramel sauce sounds and looks wonderful. I look forward to the recipe. Have a great week.

  7. Your granddaughter is too cute, Cindy! She already has excellent taste in china (love your purple chintz!) so it's just a matter of time before she acquires a taste for "hot tea". I'm intrigued by your pumpkin bread with chocolate chips and caramel. Yum!

    1. Thanks Margie. That teapot and cup has always been my favorite. I am good with serving that sweet girl cold tea if she wants it. LOL! My mom loves hot tea. She gave up coffee years ago and that is all she will drink now. I try to keep her supplied in flavored teas but she always goes back to regular black tea. Thanks for stopping by Margie.

  8. Hi Cindy! I can't wait to have tea parties with my grand-girls. I think it's completely normal to not like tea at that age, and I love that your grandchild could tell you honestly that she didn't like it. (Personally, I LOVE raspberry tea!)
    You are so right, you don't need money and big stuff to have fun with your family. Just the love and sharing of time is what all children need and love!

    1. Thanks Ceil. I love Raspberry too but oh I am enjoying some pumpkin spice right now. Nope, we don't need a whole of stuff to make memories that's for sure. Don't get me wrong, I love to doll things up but sometimes, it's better when you leave well enough alone and just go with the flow. The truth is Kyleigh could care less about the pretty china. But she loved it that Nana would have a tea party with her and allow her to use my china. That is worth it all. I can more china. But I can't buy more memories.

I grabbed out the old sneakers and so glad I did. The pumpkin bread was a hit. I made some for our Sunday school party this past Sunday. Have a good week.

He and J went hunting most days and, boy did they have fun!! Talk about making memories! I tackled some projects and read 2 books. I also got to cook for that boy. We sure miss him! Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
