{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{My Happy Place}

Well the hubby and I got away for three days to the beach in St. Augustine and oh was it so relaxing. There's just times that you need to do a getaway. We all need to break away from routine at times don't you agree?  And especially when it's to the beach! MY HAPPY PLACE NO DOUBT! There is just something about the sound of the ocean that relaxes you. Especially when you have a good book to read.  We done some eating! Look at the size of those pancakes! WHOA! Needless to say he couldn't eat both. Seems that all we did do was lay on the beach and eat. Now we did have a tent mind you. My man is NOT going to lay out in the sun. Now me, I will lay out in the sun a while, get wet, then back under tent. This is kinda how I do my beach time. A little sun and a LOT of shade.  He burns and I tan fairly easily but see here....THAT OCEAN WIND will burn you up if you aren't protected.  We went to several places to eat but one was called Caps...

{Some Of My Favorite Things) with Reviews

I thought I might share a few of my favorite things today with you all and even give you a few reviews. I love it when other's share things they like or love and give their honest opinions on it. Doesn't mean we will all LIKE it or LOVE it but who knows? We might just want to give it a try. Right?  Since I posted a picture of a pineapple I do love fresh pineapple. I actually have tried to get in the habit of eating more fresh fruits. My husband eats fruit all the time so I try to keep some kind of fresh fruit around. His favorite is apples. I love fresh pineapple salsa with grilled salmon. Here is the recipe if you'd like Salmon and Pineapple Salsa. Salsa: 3 limes or lemons juiced but juice 1 lime in a small bowl and juice the other two limes in another bowl. 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil. 1 tsp. honey, I use raw. 1 1/2 cups chopped pineapple. 1/4 red onion, chopped. 1 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro. I grow herbs so right now I have plenty of cilantro. Kosher salt a...

{Yard Sale Drawer Makeover and Hutch Completed}

I found a single drawer at a yard sale for a whole dollar and decided to give it a little makeover to use in my kitchen.  Took the knobs off, gave it a good sanding, and took a damp cloth and cleaned it up.  The White can of spray paint went to town! I sprayed three coats to get it like I wanted. Sanded the knobs down and gave them two coats of gray with a clear sealer. Remember when I showed you the chair and tote box makeover? I love having that cute little chair as it serves many different purposes. I decided to move the herbs outside on my carport ledge and put them in small flower pots with drainage. Just so you know I was having a horrible time with roots rotting in the mason jars. My cute  dollar drawer makeover would now sit in the chair for a while. But first, I needed to add some cute things to help it look complete. Love this cute little wooden sign. Two of my daughters has this sign on a wall in their in dining room. But, their s...

{Family, Fun and New Toy}

COFFEE anyone? Oh Yes, I must have coffee.  If I could not have my coffee daily, someone would just need to take me out behind the wood shed and leave me there for DEAD !   All my close friends know what a coffee lover I am and I was so happy to arrive to work one morning to find this sweet gift waiting for me on my desk. Do you like coffee?   For Mother's Day my daughters gave me a brand new toy. The 8 quart Instant Pot . The 8 quart is perfect for my large family especially since I cook for them each Sunday. However, you can also cook for two in it. So, here is what I have made in the Instant pot so far. I have boiled eggs twice. 5 minutes and they are done. I have boiled peanuts three times now in the instant pot. I usually boil at least 3 lbs at a time because Marty and I love them. It takes about 45 minutes.  I have made some of the best BBQ chicken wings ever in 12 minutes and then I put them under broil for 2 minutes to caramelize...
