{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Beach Tablescape, Family Fun, and Yard Sale Goodies}

I am still in a "Beach" frame of mind. Before we went on our annual Family Beach Vacation I decided to do a little beach tablescape.

I am so enjoying having that cute chair that holds that little drawer in a corner in my kitchen. Being able to change the decor around some has been fun.

It is hard to read the scripture here but it's Psalm 139:9-10

The beautiful picture is one that my youngest daughter took while traveling once.

I found the table runner at a yard sale for 50 cents and had it stashed away so grabbed it and that determined my color scheme. Cute little salt and pepper shakers winded up being perfect.

I grabbed my bag of sea shells to use as well.

I have several sets of dishes that go well with a Beach theme tablescape but decided my cute little fish dishes would be the ones I used. I even have the child's plates that match these. I actually lucked up one year at the end of summer and found these cuties at Walmart on clearance for 50 cent's a plate.

Decided to keep the centerpiece simple. Sea shells and candles. A lot of the sea shells I used was from beach trips past. I had a small bag of decorative shells I had bought for a project and added some of those as well.

Blue flatware and blue and green coasters added to the table went great with the plates.

I decided to intermingle the green and white napkins.

Simple and cute but makes me want to go back to the beach! And I might just do that even if it's for a day. LOL! Planning on changing the tablescape out maybe the end of  the month. I needed wanted more dishes so decided to buy me some Sunflower dishes to use next.

We had a little family fun over the weekend  at my fatherinlove's home. Ice cream social and water fun with slides, pools, bubbles, and squirt guns. The kids had such a great time.  It's so fun to see the big cousins and the little cousins with one another. Just makes me smile.

 Such fun times making sweet memories.

I stopped at thrift store on my way back home from several doctor appointment's that I had and found 8 white coffee cups. $2 brought them home with me. You can't go wrong with white.

Oven and microwave proof bowl for 50 cents was a steal to me.

This cute doe just had to come home with me too. I couldn't pass her up for $1.99.

She looks great in our little "Buck Room" at home. We have a spare bedroom that is decorated in a hunting theme and we call it the Buck room.

And I managed to pick a few hot peppers and whip up a jar of pepper sauce. I see some greens being cooked before long at my house!

Counting my blessings today and thanking God for blessings undeserved.
 I hope that you have a wonderful week and be sure to count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your blessings and see what God has done. Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings and see what God has done.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. Well now Cindy I will be singing that cute little song the rest of the day. Yes, blessings undeserved for sure. Thankful. I love the end of summer clearance at Walmart. Last summer I bought beach towels on clearance and used this year to add to birthday gifts for this summer. Fun pictures of the family. I can't believe how much that baby has grown. You done good on the thrift finds. But then you always do.

    1. I love getting in on those clearance finds too at end of summer. I have a friend that buys summer things on clearance and actually gives it for Christmas gifts. One year she bought everyone in family a beach towel, (the kids) beach toys, sunscreen, lip balm with sunscreen, beach tote and tanning lotions. She made up a basket with a tag that said, "Summer time is right after Christmas". LOL! YEP, she lives in Florida too!

    I love your idea with that drawer and chair, very cleaver.
    Your tablescape turned out darling, why, that should make you feel as if you are still on the beach for sure.
    I wished we had good finds like that at our Thrifty store. Because of where we live, they really jack the prices up, it's crazy.

    Bless you~

  14. Cindy, I love your beach decor! That table does make you feel like you’re at the beach. Great finds, too. I have a bowl like the one you found and it’s my “Chex mix” bowl as it’s the perfect size to mix it up in my microwave and you got it for only 50 cents?! I’d like to ask you you to say some prayers for a long-time friend of mine, please. She just started chemo for breast cancer. She’s quite a lady with a great support system and strong faith. I’m hoping to add numbers to her prayer warriors. Have another wonderful week, dear friend!

  17. Oh girl...you are inspiring me to get set me up a pretty table now! I very seldom set a pretty table at home...because of hubby's wacky schedule, we just don't entertain that much. Our one and only table is usually a catch-all for mail, phones & keys...that is just terrible, isn't it? I love the beachy theme and the colors are fabulous. I adore your cute little corner vignette and you certainly found some great bargains! Blessings to you, sweet friend!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
