Hoping this finds my sister bloggers doing well on this windy Sunday afternoon. Yep, we've got a little wind howling around here and a tad cool but I am enjoying a lazy afternoon. My Sunday lunch crowd (my family) have left for the day so I am kicked back. Sunday menu today consisted of: Chicken and dressing Giblet gravy Italian green beans with ham Mac & Cheese Homemade chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache. Yep, they are little spoiled at Nana's house. I am not a huge fan of cakes with icing but it must have been good as one of the grands had two slices. These gals and I have been friends for more years than I remember and since we've all retired within a few months apart in retirement and age (dating back to 4th grade in school) we try to get together once every 4-6 weeks. We always do something extra for our birthdays but was a tad late celebrating mine this year together due to other appointments that was a must. We always have a gr...
Happy Birthday to our baby girl...
Our baby girl just celebrated a birthday. My, what happened to that little girl that used to lay her head in my lap and let me run my fingers through her hair for hours?
Now here she is a wife...
And a mom to these two precious girls.
Adalynn and Annaleigh
Being the baby surely brings extra joy for her because she is spoiled by her sisters.
Her nephew and nieces adore her.
She was my last child and third daughter. I named her after her daddy whose name is Marty and after my great-grandmother whose name was Dolly Lee. I chose to spell it differently so it wound up being Marti Leigh and we call her both names. Each of my children get to pick what they want for their birthday dinner so her menu of choice was grilled chicken, baked potatoes, Greek salad and green beans and bread. Her birthday dessert was fried donuts and vanilla ice cream. We had a great time celebrating my girl.
We kicked off our first Georgia Bulldog game of the season on Saturday night and needless to say, another reason for us to get together and party! I am sure you know by now my bunch doesn't need a reason though to get together. LOL!
But as much as I love my Georgia Dawgs they aren't nearly as exciting to watch play football than my one and only and FAVORITE grandson.
This grandgirl plays volleyball and has just started this season. She also plays travel softball. I have several grands that loves sports. I can't play the radio real well so Lord knows they surely didn't get any athletic skills from Nana. LOL!
But I can make a "mean" tuna fish sandwich with a fresh tomato out of my garden. And oh it was so good. My tomatoes are about gone though. I am sure going to miss them.
My oldest granddaughter who is 15 has had a love for baking since she was a little girl. Of course as much as i enjoy cooking and baking I am just thrilled that she enjoys the art of baking. And, the art of baking is simply "love". A friend of my daughter's gave this sweet kitchen aid mixer to my grandgirl and she was beyond excited! My daughter's friend had bought a new one and our Raygen was a happy camper to receive her older one.
And I spotted a buy that I couldn't turn down at our local thrift store that gives the proceeds back to the community and missions.

Don't you just love these beautiful snack plates and cups? A what's best is I got the set of 4 plates with matching cups for $4. YEP!
I ordered some new makeup brushes from Amazon. I found the cutest container at the Dollar Tree to store them in.
I hope that you have a wonderful Labor Day Holiday and let us keep all covered in prayer with the hurricane situation. Our family has been praying for the Bahama's and our hearts are broken at the devastation that has already occurred. Where I live we are expected to have heavy rain and winds at this time (which could change at any time) by Wednesday. Power outage is due and we are as prepared as much as possible. Prayers abounding. Of course, the Bible has warned us of times such as these. May we all stay safe and remember to Trust the One who can calm the sea with just His breath.
Hugs and blessings, Cindy

Keeping you all in prayer. My folks are in southern Ocala (have been for nearly 50 years). I just worry...not just for them but you, Terri, Pamela and other family and friends.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter and wishes for many more happy days.
Thank you for the prayers . We are watching the latest update now . My heart is breaking for the Bahamas . At the sounds of this storm it could head anywhere .
DeleteCindy, You sure have a beautiful family. I would love to squeeze that little baby girl. I can tell you and Marty love your family celebrations. That's what it is all about isn't it?? Family. I love the cute snack dishes you bought. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie. That baby is a hot little mess too! She is really starting to shine with her own little personality. Some in which I am not sure her mom likes! LOL! Yes, I loved those little snake plates. I have tons of clear ones but few milk white. I think this will be give me a set of 11 or 12 now.
DeleteI just love seeing all of your family photos. :) You look like you have such a happy crew, which speaks volumes of you, yourself! :) Happy birthday to your daughter. I pray you all stay SAFE down there. I think I'd be terrified. We get bad snowstorms, but that's really it. I hope and pray the Lord keeps you all safe!!
ReplyDeleteMy bunch is happy, fun and CRAZY! One thing we do well as a family and that is to try and enjoy life. Yes, keep us all in prayer with the storm. Snow storms would scare me I am sure. Thanks for your prayers.
DeleteHappy birthday to your beautiful daughter. Love her name! Oh yes it is football time for sure around our house! I just bought a new FSU flag in which I was shocked they lost to that team on Saturday!!! We are keeping up with the weather too Cindy. Let's keep praying together.

I couldn’t believe how that game turned out either ! But a ball game is like the storm ... we just never know the out come . Praying for a hedge of protection.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your youngest, Marti Leigh! All of your girls are just as pretty as their mama. Family times are the best, and you all look like you enjoy yourselves so very much. Praying for you and your family and all that are being impacted by Hurricane Dorian. Blessings and hugs!

Praying for your continued safety.
Thank you lady . Love me some snack plates and mercy i don’t need another one 😂 but sometimes it isn’t about need now is it ? Lol .
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday to your youngest daughter! Fried donuts and ice cream sound delish! Last Saturday, I went to a local ribfest and enjoyed Tiny Tom donuts: freshly fried donuts dusted with icing sugar. Sooo good!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you and family. Stay safe!
Ooh sounds so good Margie ! We haven’t had fried donuts in forever so it was quite a treat for us.

Thank you . And mostly for your prayers . We are praying for the Bahamas as our hearts are broken for them .
DeleteWaiting for the storm to show up here, too. Traveling at 1 mph, it may take weeks!! Actually, the wind has picked up here in Marion County just in the past couple of hours.....
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family. Happy happy birthday to Marti Leigh -- SUCH a pretty name!
Barbara, I have been keeping this ordeal in prayer and our hearts are so broken over the Bahama's. That could so be us right now. We are prepared as much as possible. As of right now it appears we will get some rain. If that is all we experience then Praise the Lord.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful Marti Leigh! Her birthday menu sounded wonderful. I love seeing all the fun that your family has. My grands are busy with football, volleyball and cheerleading. Keeping your family in my prayers, my friend. Love and God bless you. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you Kitty and prayers abounding my friend.
DeleteYour daughter is so sweet and pretty and looks so happy. Happy Birthday. Hope you are safe through this hurricane. Prayers.

Kris
Thanks Kris. Praying for all with the storm, especially those in the Bahama's.
DeleteI hope you all stay safe during the storm. This was such a fun post and I always enjoy seeing your beautiful family in photos. You found some cute things!! Happy Birthday to your baby!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. We are looking pretty safe for now. Never know about this weather though.
DeleteAwww...happy birthday to your baby, Marti Leigh. She is gorgeous. What a lovely family you have. A family that plays together. Precious moments that are shared. Your family knows how to have fun. have a wonderful week Cindy. Hugs and blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. We do lots of playing together. LOL!
DeleteCindy girl, you have the most beautiful family...I mean everyone is either beautiful or handsome...I know you are so proud of them and I enjoyed all the great family pics! Yes, prayers abound for the all devastation and lives lost. Stay safe, dear friend! Love & Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you friend. We are praying for the Bahama's and for those families that have lost loved ones. Material things can be replaced sooner or later but not a life.
DeleteIt's never a dull moment at your house. Your birthday celebrations look like so much fun. Happy Birthday to Marti Leigh.
ReplyDeleteHoping Dorian won't bring damage to you. Such a large and long storm. I feel for the Bahamas. Unbelievable! Prayers for all in the storm areas.
You are so right Bonnie! Hope your week is going well lady.
DeleteHappy year ahead to your precious Marti Leigh and I do love her name. You and yours definitely know how to have a good time. And, your thrift store fine is awesome! Praying Dorian calms wayyyyy down. Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your dear girl! You have such a beautiful family! I trust the dear Lord will hold all of you and your homes in His tender, loving care through this awful storm. My sister and niece are her baby are in FL, also, and we have been watching it closely. God keep everyone safe, please, dear Lord. Sending hugs your way, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cheryl . As of right now we’ve only had a little wind that has truly felt so good . No rain . Praying for all those that have taken a direct hit and experiencing bad weather . 🙏🏻
DeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful baby girl Marti Leigh. I love her name! What fun to celebrate with family as often as possible. That's what families should do! We are still watching the tail winds of Dorian as he pushes on up the coast. I expect you are getting heavier winds than us about now. Praying you don't lose power. We didn't, and that is such a blessing. Love your white snack plate set...what a bargain! I am struggling to figure out where to put all my "fancy party things" in this house we have just moved into. I am having to downsize and let go and it is a struggle, but I know it is time. I won't be able to have the big parties that we used to have, so will have to cut down our gatherings to smaller groups maybe more often! Right now we just need to get through this storm and then we can think about what's next. Hope you have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteThank you . I’m loving those cute little snack plates too but i sure didn’t need any more 😳 i spect you’ll be entertaining lots before long . I see you being the perfect hostess 😊 smaller groups are much better any way Pam . Much more intimate and meaningful ❤️
DeleteHappy birthday to your sweet daughter! You have such a beautiful family and I know you are so proud of them! Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Benita .❤️❤️❤️
DeleteYour family is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI envy you living close enough for your family to get together frequently.
I hope you didn't get any of the "weather" from Hurricane Dorian
Thank you. The storm passed us over and I am forever grateful .
DeleteYou take really great pictures! And it doesn't hurt that your subjects happen to be GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: How and when do you use your cute, white, snack plates? I always over look something if it's just four, but then I'm not creative like you. So that's why the question.
Awe thanks Christine. For my regular dining I always do a place setting for 8 and most often never buy anything less than a place setting for 8. But, when shopping at thrift stores that rarely happens. With snack plates, I don't particularly care if they match but most often you can always find some to match to make larger place settings along the way. When I first started collecting snack plates I used them for lots of bridal/baby showers and fun girly parties. On the white ones, that set of 4 was added to some I already had so now I think I have a set of 11 or 12. I'm ADDICTED! LOL! And I don't need them....but who said anything about need huh? Ha! Guess what my three daughters and five granddaughters are inheriting one day?????
DeleteSo wonderful that your family enjoys getting together to celebrate! I love how special that is, in today's world, most family's are a disaster, it is a true blessing from the Lord to have that special bond with them! Beautiful pictures of your daughter and all of you together! Praying that you stayed safe with the hurricane passing by! Prayers continue for all those suffering such loss in the Bahamas. Love those snack dishes you found, they are just darling!!! Blessings and hugs :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Marilyn . I spent yesterday with the birthday girl and her two girls and we had a wonderful day . Headed to a grandgirls softball game today . We do enjoy our family and it is very sad at some families are today . Heartbreaking . We are safe and sound from the storm . Praying for others .🙏🏻
DeleteVisiting your blog is like being wrapped in a warm embrace! Love to you and yours dear Cindy xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Josie ❤️
DeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter. All your family is precious and I like the way you get together often. With recovering from sepsis and chronic fatigue can I say I envy you! We do not know from one day to the next what God has in mind for us. Enjoy your time together. That mixer looks like the one I have! Our one granddaughter is playing volleyball for the first time this year. How I wish I was well enough to go to one of her games. Beautiful snack set! Be safe! Nancy
ReplyDeleteNancy i will pray for your pain and strength today . You are so right , we surely don’t know from one day to the next and it’s a good thing we don’t . We couldn’t take it at times I’m sure . Hugs to you Nancy .
