{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{It's Been A Wonderful Weekend}

I enjoyed some time in the great outdoors with my granddaughter Mallory over the weekend.Our family enjoys deer hunting together but there's just something special when you and your grandgirl can celebrate a harvest together!

 Me and the grandgirl downed some nice bucks in those old Georgia pines on Saturday morning. YEP, we showed the men folk how it's done!

It was a perfect morning to sit in a tree stand with a brisk 36 degrees. My kind of hunting weather and perfect for coffee in my Georgia thermos.

Speaking of Georgia....the day even got BETTER!  Two nice bucks harvested and my Georgia Bulldogs took the win.

The guys stayed at the camp but me and the grandgirl stayed at a hotel. And, just because we were out hunting didn't mean we couldn't enjoy some of the finer things in life. Oh yeah, I had those cute little cups wrapped tightly in my suitcase along with hot chocolate, cookies, and well....LOTS OF GOODIES!

Boy, our God sure is a wonderful painter isn't He?

I can't hardly believe we are already in the month of November and Thanksgiving is a few weeks away!  Do you celebrate Thanksgiving with the traditional foods or something different? Do you dine at home or travel?

I hope that you all have a great week.

  1. Cindy, I always say, No one paints like God. :):) My SIL would be jealous of those bucks. He likes to hunt for the meat. He never waste it. Hope you wear your hunter's orange when in the woods. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
    p.s. showed my husband what girl hunters do. :)

    1. Thanks Susie. Oh girl, we eat deer meat all year round. We love it and I cook it all sorts of ways. Of course my favorite is fried back strap.

  2. Wow! That is quite amazing!!! You BOTH got bucks? Will you be having venison for Thanksgiving? Do you make Mince meat pie with venison? I know that is how it used to be done. We will be hosting Thanksgiving here at our "new house" for our family. It will be different in a smaller home, but we will be cozy and have a great time I am sure. It will be traditional turkey and dressing with all the trimmings. I am excited that we live close enough to our son and daughter in law, and she has volunteered to roast the turkey at her house and free up my oven for other things! That will be such a big help as this kitchen is a little smaller than I am used to, and the gas oven really heats the place up...so, we will be having a great time as I am sure you and your big family will too. Can't wait to hear your plans!! God bless you all.

    1. Pam, it was so much fun. She was sitting with her daddy in a stand and I was sitting in a stand a good ways from her. We shot within 15 minutes apart. It was exciting that morning. I have never made mincemeat pie. We love venison and I cook it all year round. Matter of fact, having deer & gravy tonight. YUM!

  5. Hi, Cindy! So you HUNT???? That is unreal - good for both you and your sweet gg. You must be so proud of her.

    Yes, I love to cook it but kill it? Not me, no could do. I am sooooo impressed by you!

    As for your question regarding traditional Thanksgiving. Yes - lots and lots of traditional foods and always a lasagna and a pot of meatballs too. You see, my sister and I both married Italian descended men.....and that is their tradition. And it gets eaten and then there always so much leftover, so win win, right?

    As for me, this Irish lass isn't going to touch pasta when there's mashed potatoes in the house. LOL.

    Hugs!

    1. Michele, two out of my three girls enjoy hunting and my granddaughter Mallory loves it. She has harvested some very nice bucks. I enjoy it. Girl, I don't blame you! Mashed potatoes or Pasta for Thanksgiving? Yep, I will take the potatoes too. But do love me some Pasta. Just not for Thanksgiving. I like the traditional foods for Thanksgiving too. But I must admit, by Christmas, I am ready for something different. Love me some turkey and dressing but through with it after Thanksgiving.

  6. Well, I'll have to show my husband these pics. He's killed more bucks than the law allows and has hunted for about 60 years. But, he's just about stopped in the past 2-3 years. He no longer interested in getting up that early and has killed so many that he's just lost interest. But, he loves hearing everyone else's stories. I think it's so neat that you and your Granddaughter hunt together.

    1. My youngest daughter and I are going this weekend together. We sure do have a great time. I wish I had a dollar for every single deer my husband has gotten over the years. He has hunted his whole life. We were both raised hunting. But, I do love the girly things too.....LOL!

    1. That hot cocoa was so good Kitty! By the time I got it made for us we were tired, had been cold and it was time for warming up and settling in to watch Hallmark Christmas movies. What better way to enjoy the moment than with a cup of hot cocoa.

  10. Oh my gosh Cindy how cool that you girls got those bucks. I am impressed. I like your thinking that even though you do the cold woods and hunting you need to be in the hotel for pampering. Perfect way of thinking for a hunting trip. Have a great new week ahead. Love love love the pic of the sunset. God is a master painter for sure.

  16. Aw, I think it is just incredible that you and your sweet grandgirl had that girl time together. And, I love the little mugs! I LOVE drinking iced coffee from a mug like that, too. There is just something about seeing the creaminess (I like a little coffee with my cream!) through the thick glass! I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving, too. We used to entertain big time and have huge crowds in our home at Thanksgiving, but now we prefer it more simple and low-key. So many of our dear loved ones have gone on to be with Jesus, and the reminders of their absence is pretty hard to take. So, our little family usually goes out to eat and just cherish the precious moments together! Happy Fall to you, too, sweet friend!

  19. Congrats to you and Mallory for showing the men how it’s done! I am always happy when the hunter gets her prize. The thinning of the herd is very important to the health of the deer population. And I assume that a full freezer is a very good thing.

    Look at you girls go!! Impressive for certain.
    I'm sure having that "girl time" helps while your out hunting, after all, we girls need that pampering and special attention so as to accomplish the tasks at hand.
    I love seeing and reading that your family enjoys life together, even hunting. :-)

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
