{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Cookies and Tea Anyone?}

I hope that your week has started off good for you.  It's a little nippy today but as Florida would have it, it is suppose to be in the 80's by Thursday.

I wanted to share Kitty's cookies with you today. Only wish we could actually sit down and have one together. Kitty shared these on her blog so be sure to visit.

Kitty's cookies turned out a little more fancier than mine did as she rolled her cookies out and they were a perfect slice. Girls, I was in too big of a hurry to taste one so I did old fashion drop cookies. LOL!

I had to improvise a little too. The recipe calls for the zest of an orange but I had tangerines. Worked out perfect and same orange taste.

The recipe also called for dried cranberries but I just so had a pack of the Craisins dried cranberries infused with cherry juice as I eat them for a snack sometimes.

Not only did the batter look pretty but oh that zest smelled so good.

 They do not get brown like most cookies do but they didn't need too because they would melt in your mouth.

I sat myself right down in mid afternoon and enjoyed a cup of tea with a cookie---two of them matter of fact. YUM! Take a peek at Kitty's recipe and visit her delightful blog. She post so many good recipes and she is just precious.

I haven't been to a thrift store in a while so decided on my home from a doctor appointment I would browse. So glad I did. Look at these beautiful goblets. I have this same pattern and could not pass these up for $1 each. My man said, "Thought you had a set of those?".......I DO, but now I have another set! LOL!

I spotted these sweet angel napkin rings on a shelf with Christmas items. I bought all 8 of them for $1. I was a happy camper with my loot until I arrived home to a wet floor in my laundry room! Wasn't my washing machine though. My 26 year old hot water heater decided to go to heaven....But, praise the Lord it lasted 26 years, right?

Ended the weekend with some Superbowl fun with the family. Roasted oysters, grilled sausage with onions and peppers and tater logs. YUM! Oh, and cupcakes and cookies. Can't leave out the dessert right?

And, not only can that girl right there shuck her an oyster but she can play some ball too. She made the Middle school ball team and we are so proud of her. She might be a small built gal but she has some speed. Can't wait to watch her play.

 Here is a free printable for you if interested. I made this a few years ago and it sits in a lovely 5x7 frame and I see it daily and I am reminded that when I TRUST HIM and NOT MYSELF, and I ACKNOWLEDGE HIM that HE will always DIRECT my way.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember....

  1. Hi Cindy! You sure found some good loot. Your cookies are delicious, I'm thinking. Your improvisations turned out great cookies and yes, Kitty is such a good baker/cook. Your red rimmed cup looks very much like a set of cups that go with my punch bowl set. Very pretty! Congrats to your Mallory on making the ball team! Happy February! Spring is getting closer; yay! Blessings to you...Sandi

    1. Kitty is a sweet heart. Yes, there is a punch bowl with those same matching cups. A friend gave me some of the cups, bowls and a butter dish years ago that she had stuck in a cabinet. I have those few cups for everything. To hold sugar to tea to even water for the grandgirls for a tea party. LOL! I am sure you are looking forward to Spring.

  2. Those cookies look great and congratulations to your granddaughter. We grilled hotdogs and hamburgers yesterday. The wind was awful though but at least the sun was shining.

    Love your thrifty finds. One can never have too many matching goblets.
    Those cookies look irresistible. I made some lemon cookies on the weekend. They were supposed to be made into a roll, chilled, then sliced to bake. Mine became DROP cookies and little M declared them Yummy.

  15. Cindy,
    Thanks so much for stopping by!! I can not beleive that your water heater was 26 years old!! In 43 years of living here, I have gone through 6 water heaters and I found a small puddle of water last night where our water heater is and even though it is drying up, we have a plumber coming this afternoon to investigate so i will probably be buying my 7th water heater....It is in a small space so we can not get a large water heater and they seem to only last about 6 years or so....
    Hugs,
    Deb

  17. Cindy, I can’t wait to give that cookie recipe a try! I’m staying in today after about 4 inches of snow fell yesterday. Believe it or not, I have all of the ingredients. Beautiful thrift finds, my friend! Mom had a set (just ONE set) of those goblets), I don’t know who took them when she moved. We drank ice cream sodas from them! Congratulations on Mallory making the team! Our daughter, Michelle, played middle and high school softball. We have lots of great memories of those days! Invest in some good lawn chairs and enjoy! The mug reminding us of our Lord's mercies, new every morning, is perfect. Don't we need that message when we come into the kitchen all bleary-eyed and half-asleep?!

    Have a good day -- I guess we need to tie things down for the strong winds expected this evening!!

Congrats to that sweet grand of yours too! Anyone who can shuck an oyster and eat it is pretty special. Love those thrift store finds...you find the best stuff, girl! And last but not least, I recognized your beautiful printable right away. I have the one you sent me last year stashed away with the others, just waiting for the perfect place of display in the farmhouse. Love you, sweet friend.♥

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
