Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

Very true words.
This was a great bible study. I love Max Lucado. Our ladies Bible study class by zoom ended in May and I wanted to do something at my leisure that was short, not in-depth but yet packed a punch. This fit the bill for me. AND....how perfect for such a time as this. {Finding Calm in a Chaotic World} I will finish this study next week the Lord willing.
This was one of my "beach reads". This short read had three different stories with three different authors. I've read many of Terri Blackstock's books and enjoy her so much but I must admit that I liked the two short stories by Candace Calvert and Susan Warren the best in this book.
I also read Bridge to Haven by Francine Rivers this summer too. I've been a fan of hers since I read Redeeming Love. This book was so good. What have you been reading over the summer?

While I have many devotional books this one has been my favorite one this summer. EMBRACE by Lysa Terkeurst. You know my word for this year is Embrace so I couldn't pass this devotional up when recommended by a friend. Speaking of devotional books what are some of your favorites?
What has been your go-to scripture this current season of your life? Hands down mine has been Joshua 1:9
My latest gem from Hobby Lobby
I'd like to end today by saying
that I, like many of you, have been praying for this brand new school year for our kiddos. And, not just because of COVID but simply because our future generation needs our prayers. I have grandchildren that are home-schooled, going to public school, and attending virtual school. My oldest granddaughter will begin taking some college classes on Campus in a few weeks while she continues her high school education. It's just hard thinking about her being old enough much less traveling back and forth. I know, it's a Nana thing. But my mercy...why can't they just stay little a little while longer! As Corrie Ten Boom said, "We can trust an unknown future to a known God". Let's all be in prayer for our future generation. If we aren't praying for our children...then who is?
And, when your kids have all left to go home after Sunday dinner and one of your grandchildren leaves something for you.......Be still my heart. 💓

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember to love others and pray for others every moment you can.💓
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Lord knows what this school year is going to end up looking like....A hard decision to make for many parents...
Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Debbie, I am surely praying that God will bless beyond our beyond and Lord Knows He does that for me daily. Thanks for coming by dear lady.
DeleteBless you for taking the time to study 1 John with that young mama.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have gotten a number of books read this summer. I've been lazy. When my work is done I just sit on the porch and do nothing much at all.
It was nice doing one on one for a change of pace for me and honestly, this was very easy as there was no pressure on schedules as we worked around one another's schedules. I actually had a very simple plan for us and we both stayed tuned in to the plan and it worked out great.
DeleteMy sweet friend... would you believe I've been looking up Corrie Ten Boom quotes this morning? It's not odd, it's God! I love this post... So much good stuff to think on and pray about! I'm gonna look for the devotional. Hope you have a great week! Love you, Friend! 💜
ReplyDeleteLove that quote Deb. "It's not odd, it's God! Yep, that's a good one. Love The Hiding Place by Corrie which I bet you have read. Have a good day.
DeleteThank you, Cindy, for including some of your favorite books that you've read and your favorite verse from scripture...my that's a mighty one!!!! I need to read that one everyday. There's so much to pray for these days...our kids, grandkids, the end to this Covid-19, our country, the world....so much! Thank you for your post this morning, which I'm reading with my cuppa tea. Blessings to you...
ReplyDeleteYes Kitty, that scripture has really been my lifeline so to speak. And you are right...so much to pray for. Girl, some days I just want to buy a camper and head to woods and live. But, I realize we can't run away from bad stuff no matter how hard we try. Just gotta keep trusting the Lord.
DeleteIt is a lot to think about this coming school year. I do wish they could stay little longer!! You've been reading a lot. I love a good beach read!
ReplyDeleteHeather Lou, I love to read and always have. I got that from my mama as she too always loved to read. My oldest daughter and oldest grandgirl loves to read too. My youngest daughter likes to read but no time with two littles. My middle daughter....well she is like her daddy. Give me a book with pictures and I am good! LOL! Hugs to you lady.
DeleteI needed Joshua 1:9 and Corrie Ten Booms quote this morning. Thank you sweet Cindy.
ReplyDeleteGod is in control and He has us in his hand. Praying for all school children whatever type school they are doing.
Yes He is in control sweet friend. Been missing you.
DeleteBeautiful post, my friend...hey its hard to believe I am old enough (53) to have a 23 year old, LOLOL. Anyways, great post. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. I was 20 years old when I had my oldest child. As a nurse said to me....a baby having a baby! Dang, I wonder what she would think was considered a baby having a baby now? Thanks for coming by lady.
DeleteLove that sweet, little drawing by your grand! SO precious!! Many blessings to you and yours, sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteI know Cheryl. Made me smile so big!
DeleteLove those sweet little art works from the grands. They are the best art work ever. How sweet yours is too. I have been doing my daily devotions and I am so happy to have them especially now. I have connected with another blogger that is doing a devotion on her blog from the writings Jesus Calling that I love and have a copy of. So that has been fun to reach out to others on her blog too. There is always happiness and hope in numbers.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Have a great new week.
Yes their work of art is the best. I too love Jesus Calling and have several of her devotions. Matter of fact two of them are where I can reach them daily. YES, totally agree about happiness and hope in numbers.
DeleteSo many good "reads" here that I don't know where to begin. I admire you for being able to keep up with so many...and also to mentor a young woman in her walk with the Lord is wonderful. Thank you for doing that. You are an inspiration. I feel kind of at loose ends in that department lately, and haven't quite found my "place" in our new community/church, etc., as to what role the Lord wants me to play. So I pray He will give me direction and help me seek His face and will first and not jump ahead like I usually do and then get myself into deeper water than I was prepared for. One day and one step at a time. God knows best. Love the sweet love note from your grand. What a blessing! (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteI love to read and it comes easy for me. If I am doing an indepth study though I honestly have no time for extra reading except for short devotionals. Was glad to have the novel reads this summer and especially liked the short study by Max. Girl, I know all about jumping ahead and getting into deep water! I have ran ahead of God more than I care to talk about. Guess it's called being excited to help with Kingdom things but the truth is...we surely aren't called to DO EVERYTHING NOR DO IT ALL. In my older age girl...I am trying to CHOOSE wisely. God will show you your place in your community and your new church Pam. I have no doubt.
DeleteEven though I've been staying home for 5 months, I've barely read any books (just didn't have the mental capacity during the early months of the pandemic). But now I'm slowly working my way through "The Night Circus".
ReplyDeleteI continue to do "Zoom teas" with my co-workers which they say they appreciate!
Margie, I am sure you and your tea friends are enjoying the Zoom teas and showing off your pretty tea pots and tea cups. I love to read and always have but I have found myself reading more this summer than ever before.
DeleteGreat post! What a sweet reminder your little one left you. Aren’t they precious! I’ve been keeping busy with my genealogy and organization responsibilities. One of them is keeping our church’s Facebook page up to date. It’s been a real blessing sharing church happening and also finding inspiring messages. Hope you have a great week, dear Cindy! Zenda
ReplyDeleteI am sure you are enjoying doing the church's Facebook page Zenda and no doubt that you put a lot of love into it as well. Yes those little artists sure are sweet too.
DeleteMy parents and grandparents are buried about 20 feet from Corrie. I like your new grandkids sign. I read Redeeming Love this summer and I have read a few of her other books too. Also several of Max's books and heard him speak at a concert with Michael W. Smith. Praying for all our grands as they start the school year.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan. It seems we all are praying for so much these days aren't we? LOVED Redeeming love and hear the movie is coming out in 2021. One of my favorite reads by Max is "Just Like Jesus". I have referenced back to that book many times.
DeleteCindy, this is a refreshing post in this most uncertain time. I have been reading quite a bit, historical fiction is my favorite genre. I have read every book written by Francine Rivers, she is one of the best. Faith, family, and friends are constants. Our times are in the Everlasting Hands of our Holy God. Blessings and hugs!
ReplyDeleteFrancine Rivers is surely a gifted writer. I love her writings. Hugs you Pam.
DeleteThese are excellent book suggestions, Cindy. I've read at least two of them and they helped me when I had unresolved issues. (Embraced and Anxious for Nothing).
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed Anxious for nothing. About to finish it up . I have taken my time with it which has been nice. No deadline to meet, no rushing. The devotional book is very good too isn't it? Hugs to you.
DeleteLovely and uplifting post Cindy, your words have blessed my day. I too have been reading a ton, currently my favorite genre is Cozy Mysteries. They are just exciting enough to be distracting, but not stressful, and have a happy ending 😊
ReplyDeleteJenna
Ooh, Cozy mysteries sound good and I always love a happy ending.
DeleteI came back to read your book list. I want to get a few books. I don't get your messages when you respond here. I think I want to get that sign you got about grands. Thanks for the birthday wishes on FB!
ReplyDeleteFound it at Hobby Lobby and on sale. Love it.
DeleteJust stopping in again to thank you for your visits and sweet words!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
You are welcome. I have so enjoyed your blogs posts that you have done on retirement, insurance and etc. Good information for sure.
DeleteOh all kinds of lovely inspiration here this morning! Your photos and books and quotes lift the soul right back up where it belongs, friend!
ReplyDeleteGrateful to connect, you encourager you!!!
I hope you have a beautiful week Linda.
DeleteI love Max Lucado too.. he just has such a great way of saying important things that matter. How wonderful that you were able to mentor a younger lady through a bible study! You may never know the extended blessing that will have in her life, and through her children too. Bless you for that! Our ladies bible study is starting up again this fall, and I will be one of the teachers. Our theme is "Gates and Doors". We each teach our own material, and pray and ask the Lord for direction to share with the group. I really enjoy this kind of bible study so much. It is fresh bread from the hearts of those who are seeking the Lord. It is always wonderful to study His word with other ladies! What a sweet note your grand left for you... oh such a blessing! Much love to you dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteMarilyn, I am so ready to get back to teaching/leading the Word of God. It is so refreshing for the soul. Yes, I have that sweet note from my grand on my refrigerator.
DeleteDon' t you just look those little notes the grands leave you?? I do. Course with moving I rediscovered ones my kids did. Love the sign that is just too cute.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Pam. Nothing like the grands.
